The Pavillon des Lys is a private mansion built in 1703, transformed into a charming 4-star hotel in 2004. Some of our rooms are independent, located on the ground floor of the establishment.

The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was nice. The reception area was staffed with helpful people. For a smallerh, historic, hotel it was very nice inside. The location of the hotel was superb. The town of Ambroise was such a nice stop on our French vacation.

Comfortable, clean, convenient.
Easy walk to the Loire River and many town restaurants and monuments. Next door to Clos Luce a Chateau where Leanordo Da Vinci is celebrated and honored. Da Vinci spent the last 3 years of his life in Amboise and at the Clos Luce Chateau.. Our hosts were a wonderful family who were very kind, considerate and helpful. They spoke French and English and provided a wonderful home made breakfast.

The property is beautiful and quiet. It is an easy walk to all the stores and restaurants. The staff is exceptional. They helped us get a taxi to and from attractions for our family of 5 cheaper and more convenient than it would be to take a bus or train. A definite must stay.
This lovely residence sits quietly between the famous chateaus of Amboise and Chenonceaux.

Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options to choose from. Great quality. It was fun to see a group on our final day getting ready for an air balloon ride. That would be fun to do. The bed was very comfortable.

Spectacular location beautiful views in the garden. Loved the pools.
Amboise is well worth the trip. We only visited one of the large chateaus Chenonceau and then da Vinci's chateau in town, which was educational and fun. That felt perfect for the two nights we were there. We enjoyed having large chunks of free time to walk around, eat, drink and shop! It's a very cool preserved medieval town.

Amboise has two very important sights - the Chateau d'Amboise and Clos Luce. The town is very charming with lots of accommodations, restaurants and shops, plus convenient free parking. Also, there are several nearby chateaus, towns and wineries.

If you want a good central location from which to explore the Loire Valley Chateaux, this is it. Nice small walkable town, plenty of restaurants, most of whom spoke English, and very safe at all times. Charming place to stay for a few nights.

Amboise was our favourite stop.
Amboise was our favourite stop. Although it was touristy it was not overcrowded. We loved the feel of the city and the lovely old streets and buildings including the castle. The scenery around Amboise was lovely and the people seemed friendly. Our children loved Chateau d'Usse, the Sleeping Beauty castle.

We come to Amboise every year.
We come to Amboise every year. It is a good base for exploring the Loire, being situated between Blois and Tours. There are many chateaux in the area, Chenonceaux, Chaumont, and not forgetting Amboise. Amboise has a good market on a Sunday along the banks of the Loire.
There are lots of vineyards and caves surrounding Amboise. We went wine and food matching on this last trip at caves ambacia. Also some good restaurants - la brèche for a special occasion if you can get in.
Our children have enjoyed the Clos de Luca, the mini parc de Chateau, and the nearby Aquarium de Touraine, always good for a rainy day.
It's possible to take boat trips on the Loire (Vouvray), and the Cher (near Montrichard)
Amboise is very walkable and easy to get around. If travelling by car, parking is near to the centre of town. The train station is situated on the opposite bank of the Loire.
Go visit it's a beautiful town. A place close to our hearts.

Location was excellent, with free parking nearby and a short walk to the apartment. The apartment is well-appointed, clean, and comfortable and within walking distance to nice restaurants, shops, and pharmacy. The owner of the apartment provided excellent directions to the site and where to park and communicated before and during the visit.
So many sites to see right in Amboise, and it's a beautiful city. Don't miss Chateau du Clos Luce, Da Vinci's home during his last days; it's quite special!
It was easy to get to the hotel as it is just on the outskirts of the centre. It was very clean and the room had everything we needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. For us it was important that we could get in and out easily as it was a 'pit stop' on our journey to and from the Dordogne. As it is I wish we had more time as Amboise is a beautiful city which we didn't give justice to.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our apartment on the ground floor had a modern feel and was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and Chateau Amboise. Easy free parking across the street. Communication with the host was excellent and we enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine in the backyard. Would stay here again
The hotel was overall very nice !
It is located very close by the city center of Amboise, which is very to access by car or walking (15-20 min walk).
The staff was very nice too, and very helpfull.
The facilities are really amazing with a very nice pool and garden outside, and a big safe parking in front of the hotel.
The breakfast was okay but would have preferred some protein like cheese, meat or egg which is what we have gotten with the bread croissant and coffee and served at other places in France.
