Cassis is a lovely little town with a small harbour, a town beach and the other beaches nearby. It's a 45 minute walk to Port-au-Pin which is a beaut Calanque with clear blue water. It's another hour to the next Calanque which is very impressive but it's a steep walk down and then a steep walk back, so he prepared.
The boat trip to see all the Calanques is definitely worth it, it was a really interesting experience.
We ate out twice, both meals were fine, I especially liked my aoili which is a local fish and seafood speciality dish. There are also a number of ice cream shops that we frequented 😁
We were in Cassis at the start of April (2 weeks before Easter) and it was very busy even then, it must be quite overwhelming in the summer.

The calanques in Cassis are amazing, and an absolute must see if coming to southern France. Cassis is small enough, but large enough to easily enjoy 3-4 days worth of sightseeing/shopping/relaxing….whichever you enjoy there was something for our whole family!
The nearby beach is lovely, as well as the beaches of the calanques of Port Pin and En Vue.
If you can plan your time to be outside of the weekend, I would advise, as it seems really popular for nearby locals as well as tourists to visit. Be aware if doing calanques with small children, the hike there and back is hilly and a few spots are treacherous, without guard rails.
And go early to the calanques to have time to stop and take photos (the path in some spots is 2 person wide) and uninterrupted photos with fewer people in your shots.

A beautiful harbor front town with restaurants and cafes and parks. The views in every direction were spectacular especially if weather is nice. Nearby Calanques were amazing for serious hiking and boat tours.

Suitable for serious walkers and those who just like to potter like us. A beautiful place for an autumn holiday and very easy to access by public transport from Marseille. People were still swimming in the sea in mid October. Huge selection of places to eat. We only had a few days but could have spent longer.

Cassis is a lovely town, with excellent facilities.
Cassis is a lovely town, with excellent facilities. The boat trips to La Calanques are amazing. Always great service and fabulous coffee at Monsieur Brun on the harbour. Fantastic pastries and breads served at La Tarte Tropezienne Patisserie. Lovely food served at La Table restaurant. Amazing seafood, and fantastic service at Le Bonaparte. We needed more time to explore all that's on offer in and around Cassis.

Cassis is a lovely little town that is a great alternative to Marseilles. It has a tremendous selection of restaurants and the food is incredible no matter which one you select. The access to the national parks is just a quick drive from city center and if a boat ride is more your speed, the jump on one of the 3 tours offered in the harbor. A weekend is all you need to experience the magic the city has to offer as it's much smaller than it's big city neighbor.

We stay in this hotel every time we visit Cassis! I can't comment on the breakfast, we always have breakfast in one of the cafeterias at the waterfront!
