Struggled with help from locals, especially on where to find breakfast. One bakery which is open all day by the roundabout was the only place to find food a lot of the time. Luckily the staff in that bakery were very friendly…Not so much anywhere else.

Great place to visit, loads of cognac houses to visit with-in close proximity to the town. We chose to visit Remy Martin as it was 300 year anniversary, great tour, lovely tasting. We especially loved (as gin drinkers) the Citadelle distillery, it's fabulous, we had great tour and wonderful tasting session (maybe get a taxi there!!!) it's about 20mins drive outside Cognac, but worth it.
Some nice bars and restaurants, but for the good reataurants by the river I would suggest booking.

Cognac is a very nice town and the surroundings too.
Cognac is a very nice town and the surroundings too. Visitors should go on a tasting tour at Martell and visit the castle of King François first. The distilleries tours are friendly and you will get a lot of infos about the amazing Cognac.
The old town is worth a visit especially the Couvent des Récollets and the churches.
If you have some time don’t hesitate to stroll near the Charente River. There is a five stars hotel named “les chais Jean Monnet” amazingly renovated and don’t miss a lunch or dinner at the restaurant. A true fantastic experience.

Full of charm and character.
Full of charm and character. Great size to visit the town on foot and feel that there is enough to see. We did one of the Cognac houses tour and tasting (Hennessy 2 hours) and enjoyed a meal at Les Chais Monnet, perfect little escapade.

We visited the tourist information centre, but we’re only told about the expensive brandy distillery tours, although there are free tours available outside the town, as well as one near the park.
Restaurants seemed to be overpriced.
To be fair, it was a grey, windy day in November when we visited, so we didn’t see it in its best light.

This is an absolute jewel 😃 The flat is more like a town house, with plenty of space and all the amenities you need. There is even a little courtyard at the back of the kitchen where you can relax in the evening or while having your breakfast. It is very well situated, near the heart of Cognac and the gardens. We will definitely recommend!
There was a great selection for breakfast. The room was spacious and comfortable and, crucially, quiet. The hotel is in an excellent location, it was easy to walk around Cognac from there. They had free parking, and nice pool that were took our baby swimming in. It’s also right next to the river which is beautiful.
Great Value. Excellent location in Old Cognac. A simple comfortable room with a private bathroom with a great shower. Emmanuelle is a thoughtful host and the croissant breakfast was fresh and tasty. Pre stay communication was very good too.
It was useful to have parking and the €14 fee was fair. There is a nice bar at the hotel. The location was excellent and close to La Maison restaurant which was exceptional. The bed was comfortable.
