The location is picture perfect, literally. It is on the western coast of the island, so if there is a sunset, you would see it. On our days, it was rainy, but that simply brought a different kind of beauty. The beaches were mostly empty - we had them to ourselves. There are several ways to get to the beach below, and all are an easy, short walk. Yet, the hotel is elevated, so you have a lovely view of the coastline. The room was light and airy, and very clean. There is plenty of storage space, and a nice shower with plenty of pressure. The bed was very comfortable, and there were room darkening curtains. The hotel was full when we were there, but it was still quiet. Breakfast is not included, but we found it to be worth the price. There was a lot of variety in the pastries offered, along with cheese, meat, boiled eggs, cereal, and fruit. We would recommend this place, and would stay again.

Stay overnight in order to explore Island on our first visit - located centrally. Great for seaside shops and choice of restaurants for evening, which suited our needs. Touring around enabled us to appreciate the smaller villages, and stunning coastline.

The busy fishing port and fresh fish markets were of great interest, and there was plenty of choice at restaurants -particularly if you wanted to eat fresh fish!
The island is really well set-up for cycling-cycle lanes abound and the island of Oleron is flat.
The oyster gathering industry is another distinctive feature of the Island.

La Cotiniere is both a small working port and a holiday venue. It has shops offering clothes, gifts and souvenirs, most quite tasteful. There are a few bike rental companies too - we hired bikes for a day and had great fun exploring. It has plenty of restaurants: we dined at two, on a list of recommended restaurants provided by our hotel. The better of the two, La Sardinerie was outstanding, and not surprisingly very popular - booking essential.

The hotel is ideally placed for walking in to the port of La Cotiniere, where there are lots of restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel is very dog friendly and the beach directly next to the hotel is perfect for dog walking!

Lovely harbour with working trawlers, lots of bars and restaurants to choose from, sandy beach and well located in the centre of the island. At first we thought it was just a lot of bucket and spade shops but there’s a good fish market area and basically unspoilt. We are twice at le chaloupe, good seafood overlooking the harbor

Beautiful spot on a sandy promontory, about a 10 minute walk from the port of La Cotiniere. We picked a room on the ocean side of the hotel. It was quiet, private, peaceful and unfussy. The sound of the sea, beautiful views, especially in the mornings, and the way each room has its own little terrace, from which you could step directly out onto the dunes, were especially lovely. We appreciated the storage spaces, the huge bed with plenty of pillows and the modern walk-in shower.
Very comfortable and spacious house. Fantastic kitchen - extremely well-equipped.
The house is decorated with the paintings of the owner’s grandfather - these are very interesting and we enjoyed trying to understand what could be the meaning of each painting…
The location is very peaceful despite being within walking distance of La Cotinière.
The owner was very friendly and replied very clearly and very quickly to all our questions.
Great location, half way through the island on the beach front, at walking distance to the harbour where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. We went in August and the hotel was pretty full yet very quiet. All staff is friendly, breakfast is available for a supplement but is worth it with a good variety to choose from.
The location of the hotel is its saving grace. Lovely views from the front rooms upstairs. With a little investment this hotel could be so very much better.
Breakfast was adequate. Continental with bread, jam, mini croissants, sliced ham/cheese. We werent offered any cooked options. Coffee was nice.
The hosts were extremely accommodating and welcoming. The hotel was a very comfortable stop over with a lovely pool too. Breakfast provided a great choice and start to the day.
We were recommended a local restaurant for supper which served fabulous seafood.
