The location is perfect, easy walk to all of the town restaurants and a 2 min drive to the main cave site. There is a lovely little stream in the back with plenty of seating set up to enjoy a beverage/food. And the limestone cliffs make a beautiful backdrop.

Beautiful spot in the middle of town. We were able to walk to 2 nearby caves. Restaurants, museums, and shops are all within easy walking distance. Our host, Yves, was gracious and most helpful. The breakfast was delicious. He went out of his way to provide the foods we like. The room was quiet. There is a stream that runs through the property that provides a beautiful babbling sound. Idyllic.

We stayed in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac because we were interested in exploring the Vezere Valley and it seemed to be a good place to base our search. It proved to be a great choice - the hotel was fantastic and the scenic town had a number of really great dining options within walking distance.

Les Ezyies is a charming, friendly town in the heart of the Perigord with great hotels, restaurants and amenities. Many lovely pre-history sites within 25 kilometers, and the Museum of Pre-History in the middle of town is extraordinary.

Staying in Les Eyzies makes it easy to see as many caves and...
Staying in Les Eyzies makes it easy to see as many caves and abris as possible. I definitely recommend staying in Les Eyzies itself, rather than travelling in, if you want to see lots of sites and visit the museum. Les Eyzies is like an archaeological theme park! Also the Prehistory Museum is free on Sunday afternoons, which was a nice surprise. We went to the Museum and then visited Abri Pataud the next day. We also went to Rouffignac, which is a 25 minute drive away. We decided not to try Font-de-Gaume as we were travelling with our baby, and were advised that we would have to queue for a long time early in the morning to get a ticket. I would like to go back for longer next time and visit more of the local sites. I would also like to try kayaking next time too, as there are lots of kayak hire places along the river. We did go for a nice bike ride though, and there are some good off-road paths. The Portuguese Restaurant in the village was good value and baby-friendly!ChrissyUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Why are they making people stand in line for tix in the internet age? we had to get up crack of dawn. RAINING. NO SHELTER. It shows what they really think of tourists. No instinct for hospitality. Tour guide a failed jokester. If there's good food in the town we did not discover it.

They went out of their way to help me with practical problems like purchasing a ticket to a local attraction when the website was hard to manage. An unexpected bonus was the hotel's library room, a quiet enclave available for guests to read or work in. My room was simple but clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful. Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was outstanding! The Beune river lies imediately in front of the hotel and there is a sitting area with chairs close to the water's edge - a great spot for relaxing and reading your holiday book. A stream from the Beune drives the mill wheel and ducks often come to visit the guests. There's plenty of parking at the hotel, and there are numerous bars and restaurants just a few minutes walk away.
