This property is ok only if your priority is to stay in an extra-touristy area close to the Arena and main attractions. However, if you care about your stay and are looking for a pleasant hotel, this is not it. I booked it due to at all the good reviews it has, but was negatively surprised when I got there.

With arguably the most impressive Roman heritage outside Rome, Nîmes is truly a sight to behold. Its most awe-inspiring structure is the virtually intact Roman amphitheatre. The gladiators are long gone, but a matador statue outside gives an idea of its current use, which is most celebrated during the annual Feria.
Another amazing Roman monument is the Maison Carrée, a colonnaded temple. The Temple of Diana is less well preserved, but still maintains some of its arched roof and interior details. The peaceful, surrounding Fontaine Gardens cover the grounds of the former Roman baths and still contain elegant water features.
Also water-related is the incredible Pont du Gard, a triple-arched Roman aqueduct across a river north-east of Nîmes. Other Roman remains include the Tour Magne, and 2 gates that allowed access through the city walls.
The Nîmes Archaeological Museum in the former Jesuit college provides background to this history and also houses the Warrior of Grezan, a pre-Roman statue. Another museum houses a fine art collection, and the simple cathedral is also worth visiting.
In addition to plenty of restaurants and bars, Nîmes has a good range of accommodation. Booking.com’s options include luxury hotels by Parc Expo Nimes, and cheap apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport.

loved Nimes, we were glad we missed our train, as it gave us longer to spend there! However it would have been useful to understand there are 2 railway stations there;)
We really enjoyed exploring the Arena, and the Roman antiquities museum which were both extremely interesting.
Nimes felt a very comfortable town, easy to get around, and with fascinating historical sites.

Beautiful centre ville and historic area.
Beautiful centre ville and historic area. The train station was also surprisingly historic. Everything in Nimes was very clean. We saw next-to-no graffiti, trash, buskers, etc. -- it could be because we were there for the Roman Festival, but everything was generally lovely and we definitely plan to return.

The Roman museum was fantastic.
The Roman museum was fantastic. The city gardens were beautiful and had Roman remains. The historical part of the city is lovely. Compact, so easy to get around. We liked having a cocktail by the temple in the evening.

Recommend getting a Nimes City Pass which is reasonably priced and gives free access to lots of sights and museums, in particular the Roman arena and the Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard. Nimes is a small town but a world class destination for tourists interested in historical sights.

A wonderful city.
A wonderful city. Lots of Roman architecture, for example, the Amphitheatre, the Castellum Aquae and the Maison Carrée, are all in walking distance of the Ibis Budget Hotel. The city abounds with restaurants and cafes. The station is near the Hotel too and we made easy excursions by train to Arles and Avignon.
The airport is about 20/25 minutes by bus from the town centre, but the bus is very cheap and drops you about 100 yards from the Ibis Budget.
Nimes is a great place to visit

Oddball Hotel with huge pictures of the Rolling Stones and Salvador Dali on the stairs!
The young lady on Reception was absolutely excellent - despite my giving her a hard time on arrival as it had taken me an hour and a quarter to actually arrive at the hotel by car once in Nimes! Her attitude remained professional, friendly and as helpful as possible.
In the morning she served an amazing breakfast on a tray - with everything you could wish for - a real delight!
The immediate surroundings outside the hotel are not the most glamorous, though the hotel itself is delightful once you've found it and are inside. The staff were really helpful and even upgraded us to a posher room. Within a few minutes walk is the historic centre of Nîmes and it's less than 10 minutes walk to the amphitheatre.
We only stayed overnight while travelling through, but it was ideal for our needs. Close to the train station and only the attractions. In 24 hours, we got a good taste of what Nimes has on offer. The staff in the hotel were friendly and let us leave our bags there after checkout while we walked around.
The hotel was well situated a couple of minutes from the station and close to the centre of Nîmes and it’s attractions.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and pleasant.
The breakfast had lots of choices and was good value
