Paris is user friendly and a wonderful city to explore by walking. The subway system is good and simple. There are so many neighborhoods to explore each with its own vibe. I recommend venturing out away from the touristy sites and explore some of the restaurants and stores in the various neighborhoods. You need to see the D-Orsay and some other famous areas, but get there early. Definitely go to Versailles and take the garden tour with Alisatair which includes the palace later in the day. It is a very expensive city which is not worth paying for it. I travelled to more than 40 countries and Paris is too expensive for what is worth to visit. Be prepared to walk but more importantly be savvy with Google Maps or Waze to find your way around town. Our hotel map was so small in detail, it was useless. Maybe another shortcoming of my hotel. This was a return visit for my wife and I after 20 or so years. Our main objective was to sit at the cafes and just enjoy the atmosphere of Paris. We accomplished our objective several times over. This is a review for older folks. Paris is a wonderful city just to walk around or sit at a cafe or in a park. I no longer take the metro due to the stairs, but don't worry because rides like Uber are very convenient and reasonable. I don't like having to purchase tickets in advance and on line for museums, etc. It's not good if you have to change plans last minute due to weather or health. Can't be as spontaneous as before. We enjoyed walking around the wonderful city, the Musee D'Orsay was wonderful with Impressionist painters like Monet and van Gogh. It's very easy to get about on the metro and RER and we would recommend the hop on hop off bateaubus on the river. The museums and exhibitions are just amazing, I could spend weeks just visiting museums. The city is so lively, but in a positive way, there is always something happening. There are tons of restaurants to choose from, same goes for hotels, which sometimes makes it difficult to choose the right one.
