Plenty of good food (not only crepes, but a large variety of those.) Worth going beyond just the tourist areas (the Cathedral & the Market) for better value & variety. Quimper is an interesting place with decent bars and restaurants history and architecture. Great access to Finistere and the coast. The apartment was in Locmaria district a quirky neighbourhood with its own character and nightlife just a 15 minute stroll into the centre where we ate decent French cuisine and also ate well at Mama Thai as the name suggests it was was Thai food but of the highest order

Quimper is a very central medium size French city.
Quimper is a very central medium size French city. It does have medieval buildings, but it is very much a working city and somewhat gritty. It is not completely dedicated to tourists, which is good and bad. It felt very authentic, but some parts felt less then safe, secure. The best, prettiest area is the main square around the church. The main tourist area is tiny, but nicely pedestrianized. Also the museum of Breton heritage is well-worth a couple hours. Beyond that, not much too see, but Quimper is a great base for the surrounding region.LisaUnited States of America

And the location is fantastic, just 50 meters from the cathedral. The free parking Tourbie is just a few hundred meters away, and on the adjacent streets there is a good chance to find parking as well, though it is paid.
