Our stay here was great. The house was sparkling clean, cozy, warm and very spacious. The hosts were great and responded quickly whenever we had questions, even on new year's Eve. We would gladly stay in this house again.

A lovely reception from Matthieu & he was so very helpful throughout our stay. Hotel was very clean & although the room was small it was fine for our requirements. Loved the fact that coffee drinks etc were available at any time of day & eve. We will def visit again.

Staying at l'Hôtel de l'Univers made me think of what it would be like if you had a friend with a room in Caen in a great location and who let you stay there. You appreciate the location and are happy with the general cleanliness of the place, but there are a few quirks or overlooked areas, notably the lack of mattress covers (just sheets on a mattress), or the fact that if you're not out for the day by a certain time, no one will come to do housekeeping. But like a friend, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The room overall was comfortable and convenient, and the location was great, close to pretty much everything in the center of the city, as well as to a bus line that takes you directly to the Caen Memorial. And just outside on Sunday is the huge market that has great street food.
