Nifty older building. Locked courtyard in which I could store my bicycle. My room had wooden beams and a view up to the cathedral. The location was in the old part of this incredibly picturesque walled town and within a few minutes I could visit the cathedral and see the town walls. Many restaurants and bars and stores were within a 10 minute walk. Excellent breakfast was lots of choice including boiled eggs and a couple local cheeses.

The location was perfect for walking around the charming town; the owner was very welcoming and made an excellent suggestion for where to have dinner. The property is a large private home ; the owner makes available a bedroom and adjoining bathroom. Everything is correct but a little spartan. The bathroom has a bathtub but no stand-up shower.

we loved it quirkiness, it’s not like staying in a hotel but in an artist’s boudoir. We loved Cecile who came to meet us on her bicycle and took us up to her boudoir and then invited us to have breakfast at her amazing main house in the village with a lovely garden and the most amazing view. Cecile is also a wonderful artist.

Thé layout was great. Grocery and cafe next door. We cooked a couple of meals.Quiet.
Breath of fresh air after hustle and bustle of Paris. Prices were also very diff from paris. Great side trips from here. Tourist office just down the street in town center

Semur en Auxois is a beautiful old French town.
Semur en Auxois is a beautiful old French town.
My wife worked in the Burgundy area many years ago but had never visited Semur until our recent stay. We stayed in the older part of town and had a very relaxing experience.
Ample Restaurants, Bars and Cafe's with friendly staff.
A friend told us we must eat at "La Cuisine de la Fontaignotte" restaurant.
The only reservation we could secure was for lunch 3 days in advance as all dinner reservations were already booked. We took the opportunity for lunch and had one of the most memorable meals I can recall.
It is hard to say the preparation and presentation were superb but in this instance they were. The staff were busy but attentive and our small group of friends had a wonderful experience.
First Class Cuisine.

The town is vey old and the buildings beautiful. The setting is extraordinary being on a hill in the loop of the river.
The guide books say visit the church. Not possible for us on a sunday evening. I feel we missed out.
In late march not many restaurants were open but the one we went to was very nice and reasonably priced

Semur-en-Auxois is a gorgeous medieval town, perched high on old (and crumbling) ramparts. The old town has some colombage and other old buildings. The views of the river from the ramparts are fabulous as are the views of the town and bridge from the river below. Getting into and out of the old town can be tricky if you're not familiar with it.

Semur is like a French Hogmead.
Semur is like a French Hogmead. It is really the only way to describe it. The setting in a loop in the river, with battlements, medieval shops and houses, markets and an amazing cathedral feels not of this world. You can wonder around in wonder for hours and would not be surprised to see the occasional wizard. The people are so friendly and thus the town's motto, 'we welcome all strangers' rings very true.

A cross between an hotel and a B&B, run by the owner who was very friendly and not intrusive at all. Between us, we had enough English and French for her to explain that I was the only one staying there, I had use of the lounge area and a set of keys to come and go as I pleased. I was lucky to be able to park right outside (other street parking and car parks are available in the vicinity) and the hotel was just around the corner from the town centre and a number of restaurants. The included Continental breakfast was filling and tasty.
Lovely room in a superbly original hotel. Excellent, kind and patient receptionist, everything has been well thought out during Covid. Breakfast was great, some interesting regional breads, ham and cheeses as well as croissants etc. Comfortable bed above all! We'll definitely be back. Lots of places and restaurants to explore in the town a moment away from the hotel.
Amazing value and by far the largest room we stayed in on our trip of 7 different hotels/B&B's etc which was extremely good news for our lively dog! Wonderful free standing bath, tea making facilities and fridge freezer included. Easy parking and a super breakfast in traditional surroundings as well. The bed was also one of the most comfortable we slept in.

Great place! Very cool artistic vibe. Great location within a very short walk of the old town center in Semur-en-Auxois. Great breakfast every morning with coffee, crossaints, baguette, etc. Bathtub had adjustable showerhead, but no stand/holder to hold it up high, so it was challenging to take a shower.
This was our second visit to this hotel and our expectations regarding both the facilities and food were satisfied. Semur en Auxois is a lovely town and the hotel is a short walk from it so has the advantage of the quiet of the countryside as well as access to the town.
It is a beautiful very old building transferred into a hotel, with a very nice renovation. We liked the family style, but very professional service and very welcoming attitude. Room was great, breakfast was good. And location was right in the old center of the village
A very cute little hotel, yes rustic and sure the floor boards are old and creaky, but all part of the character and experience. A beautiful little town and friendly townsfolk everywhere.
Audrey was great. Very welcoming and helped with all our requested. Great personality. Hotel was old but comfortable. Right in center of town close to everything.Good value
great location and staff is very nice.
we had free room upgrade with spectacular view of cathedral from room window.
