Having been to this hotel several times up to 2008 when we left the uk I was concerned that it may not be as good as I remembered. I can happily say that the staff, service, general ambience and food were all as good as ever.

Superb location for attending events in the P&J arena, it’s literally a stone’s throw away. Everything is spotlessly clean, rooms are spacious and comfortable. I especially appreciated the mini fridge and as a woman with thick curly hair, having good quality conditioner as a freebie was a nice bonus! Staff were all very kind and friendly

FAQs about hotels in Aberdeen

Charm, Granite, Energy and Blooms

With a gently rolling landscape, Aberdeen moves elegantly between sandy beaches, picturesque stone houses, and blooming gardens. As Scotland’s 3rd-largest city, it is home to important universities, a busy harbour, and is a hub for the oil industry in the North Sea.

Walk along the Union Street ‘Granite Mile’, and visit some of the historic places like the Town House, Castlegate, or ‘Provost Skene’s House’. Don’t miss the Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum, and do some shopping in the city’s trendy shops. Choosing hotels in Aberdeen’s city centre allows you to explore this compact city on foot.

The charming Old Town is filled with bookstores, old buildings like the King’s College, and student cafés. The city won the ‘Britain in Bloom’ prize a stunning 10 times for its well-kept gardens.

The local airport offers direct train links with the central railway and coach station. Staying in a B&B, a cottage, or a hotel near Aberdeen Airport is a way to avoid the last-minute rush, while enjoying the surrounding green hills.

Being a port city, you can arrive by ferry - I travelled from the Orkney Islands on an overnight ferry. Aberdeen is a good base to visit the Dee valley area and quite a number of castles, including Balmoral. Don’t miss Crathes castle for its beautiful walled gardens.

Excellent accommodation and warm Scottish hospitality, but...

Excellent accommodation and warm Scottish hospitality, but Aberdeen wasn’t the right fit for us Our accommodation was genuinely fantastic. The hosts were professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful — exactly the kind of Scottish hospitality you hope for. The place was clean, comfortable, and clearly looked after with care. The people we met were without doubt the highlight of our trip. Aberdeen itself, however, didn’t really work for us as regular UK visitors. We’re just a curious family from Buckinghamshire, not connected to the oil industry, and we felt the city wasn’t particularly geared toward general tourism. The weather was tough, and many streets and public areas looked quite neglected, which was a shame because the granite buildings themselves are beautiful. We had planned to stay for three days, but after one day we decided to continue our trip further south and follow a more traditional Scottish route with castles, festivals, and the capital. One practical note for travellers: restaurant prices were noticeably higher than we expected. For example, a dozen oysters cost around £44 here, compared to roughly £30 in Edinburgh. The difference was surprising. The accommodation and the people were wonderful — truly. Aberdeen as a destination just didn’t match what we were hoping for on this trip.

I took the tourist Hop-On-Hop-Off sightseeing bus and it gave me an excellent overview of Aberdeen. The city centre is run-down like most city centres but the architecture was an interesting mix of traditional Scottish and new builds. The suburbs were attractive with lots of trees and a big park. I found the old city round the university quite fascinating. The sandy beach was a big surprise -- I spent a couple of hours enjoying sitting on the promenade. It was very un-crowded for a sunny summer day. I ate in a Tukish restaurant which gave a most substantial amount of food.

All the bus services were excellent, we travelled to Stonehaven and Gourdon for family visits and used the Ember buses. Excellent service and bus ride. A must is the Maritime museum in Aberdeen, free admission. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of different information and activities on 5 floors about fishing, harbour life and oil rigs. There is a lift, but a few steps between each floor. Recommendation - start on floor 5. Lots of different shopping areas, good retail shops and restaurants.

My room had a double bed and a single bed in it. The room and en-suite were both clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet which was a bonus. I slept like a log and woke at my usual time. I didnt have breakfast but the restaurant looked good and the staff were helpful and friendly. Absolutely fantastic experience at the Marcliffe. A new favourite for NE Scotland, and we will definitely return in future. Staff in particular made this experience special. The food quality in restaurant was excellent and well received by our party. Being lucky enough to stay in some very premium hotels, this really sets down a marker for other 4/5 star venues in Scotland.

Everything regarding our stay was perfect. The staff, room, location, food, cleanliness, the building itself, car parking. We will definitely stay here every time we need a hotel in Aberdeen as it is very much value for money. Our stay could not have been better. We normally stay in a Premier Inn or Holiday inn. Not anymore as we will book in here.

I didn’t stay here. I doesn’t exist. Why is it being advertised as this is next to airport. I was moved to Brentwood Aberdeen City Centre, with an address of 101 Crown St, Aberdeen, AB11 6HH. However when inside I was impressed with the budget room. Clean and cosy. Value for money. I was at back of hotel which I like so no traffic noise.
