They call Aberdeen the Silver City because of its granite buildings. On this trip we concentrated on the surrounding countryside. We visited several castles, some with magnificent gardens and history is everywhere. Aberdeen offers seaside, a large fishing port, two fine universities, two fine salmon rivers, rolling wooded countryside and the Cairngorm skiing is only an hour away. Parking in the right place is essential. The parking is 42 feet from the Ibis hotel. The hotel food was very good. Accessible travel is made available from electric scooter higher from a nearby shop in the shopping precinct. The people of Aberdeen were friendly and Happy. I recommend the open top trip bus £10 which is about one&a half hrs and has good info on all the interesting places. Also Cosmo world food restaurant in the center between rail and bus stations is well worth a visit( eat all you like of many foods at quite a reasonable price) The high street &market Square was/is undergoing alterations for cycle paths and building work at present so is not looking at its best but we still managed to enjoy our visit to Aberdeen and the Duffy Park wintergarduens were good to see also.Guest review byDoreenUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Aberdeen was a delightful surprise.
Aberdeen was a delightful surprise. Beautiful old granite buildings, miles of golden beach, a charming old fishing village. It is quite spread out, but worth wandering. The Union Terrace Gardens are lovely. It's definitely not a tourist town, but we enjoyed that about it. My daughter lives in Aberdeen I have no issue with aberdeen when I stay with her but when I decide to go with my friends I do a booking. The location of the hotel is good as its close to Aberdeen Airport and you are only a few miles from the centre of Aberdeen city. My room was good and wifi was free and easy to log onto. I enjoyed my evening meal and breakfast the following morning so no complaints there.
