Beautiful rooms and bathrooms with all the home comforts like mini refrigerator, coffee machine, room safe, bathrobes, slippers, and quality toiletries. Comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, warm public spaces in which to relax and enjoy the delicious coffee and food from the bar menu. Lovely restaurant, great service, wonderful breakfast, and good food. Fantastic customer service, attentive staff and managers present at all times. Any inconvenience anticipated by staff and manageress and avoided e.g. our room was upgraded to a quieter suite when there was a function in the restaurant.

The breakfast was exceptional and would put most chain hotels to shame. The offering included a fresh crispy sough dough loaf, fresh pain au chocolat, fresh blue berries and raspberries, thick greek yogurt, a capsule coffee machine, Alderney butter and an exceptional freshly cooked full english breakfast.

We loved staying at the Old Bakery. It is a comfortable apartment with a well equipped kitchen, super shower and pleasant bedroom. Conveniently situated near shops, pubs and cafes it is very quiet and peaceful. We particularly liked the original art and reading about the history of the property.

Alderney Festival was an unexpected bonus.

Alderney Festival was an unexpected bonus. We stayed at Fort Clonque a Landmark Trust unique destination. The sunshine made everything relaxed, al fresco and convivial. The island has spectacular accessible sea views everywhere. I loved it..

A magical island.

A magical island. The walking was incredible and the general landscape is wonderful. Alderney is a very welcoming island with so much history to explore. My only regret is that we had to leave this splendid isle.

A beautiful island, the most gorgeous beaches and crystal clear sea. Lots of great walks and good food everywhere. Saye beach worth getting to, light sand and the sea was spectacularly clear. Make sure to walk the island, the best way to see the island and the views.

It was lovely to be able to return to Alderney after 30 years. We weren’t able to go earlier as Aurigny had cancelled flying direct from Jersey which meant we had to fly to another Island before Alderney making it very expensive but a new ferry company Islands Unlimited have started sailing direct making the trip much cheaper. We love Alderney which is so relaxing and the people are so friendly. No buses I’m afraid but most people just cycle everywhere or walk.

Alderney is a delightful island, with lots to see in a short break. Well worth while visiting the WW2 military hospital, the Nunnery (Roman fort - amazing that one small building carries so much history, from Roman times to the WW2 occupation), and the Odeon (WW2 tower). Be prepared to walk - hire cars are available, but one would miss so much by not walking. The path around the island is full of interest and contrasts. St Anne's church is a gem - friendly congregation and great vicar.

Alderney is for those who enjoy natural beauty, wonderful wildlife and challenging history. There are lovely beaches, great walks, various activities, the Channel Islands' only heritage railway and a great museum. Get the guides and start exploring, refreshing yourself with excellent local produce and a fine food offer in between.
