I loved the old world atmosphere of the inn. The location was excellent, right in the centre of the village and handy for the historic Tye and the shops. The breakfast was good and the staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful.

Beacon View is a very comfortable apartment with a lovely view from the outside patio. Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained with lovely homely touches such as games, books and magazines. It is in a great location, especially if going to the opera at Glyndebourne.

Unfortunately because of the times of year (December) most places in and around Alfriston were closed.
However this did not detract from this peaceful, pretty and historic village.
I would definitely go again, earlier in the year when places are open
We ate at the place we stayed ‘The Olde Smugglers Inne’ but they only serve excellent food in the evenings.
It is fairly flat and easy to walk around the village.

Alfriston is well worth a longer visit than the few hours we spent here. The high street has so many old and interesting buildings including about three pubs. Behind the high street is a village green with the 14th century church which we did visit. Its on the South Downs Way and well worth a stop.

Alfriston is very old , historic and scenic.
Alfriston is very old , historic and scenic. The George pub is from 1397 and there are other old buildings, churches and interesting places to explore. There is a fantastic bookstore, filled with great ideas as well as books. There are many walks in the valley or you can go down to the Downs of Seaford. It would be a good base for relaxing and walking but helpful if you had a car.

Alfriston is a delightful village with several historic properties. The streets are very narrow, and it is not a good idea to try to drive through the village. There are two car parks to the north of the village, one on each side of the main approach road, and cars can be parked here, (£1.40 for two hours) provided there is sufficient space. Alfriston Clergy House (National Trust) is well worth a visit, and the very large parish church, dedicated to St Andrew, is known as the Cathedral of the Downs.

Alfriston is a delightful village with several pubs and a few small shops. Lovely walks by the river and on the Downs. National Trust Clergy House is worth a visit (the first property they bought). There is a vineyard (Rathfinney) on the edge of the village. We had good meals at The George Inn and at the Dean's Place Hotel and also at various country pubs in nearby villages.

Beautiful hotel with great facilities in a stunning location! Everyone is really friendly and accommodating, the food is excellent (especially the roast dinner!) and the rooms are good quality.
If you like old architecture, beautiful scenery and walking, it’s the perfect place to visit!!
Was having so much fun that we spontaneously extended our stay.
The staff were very friendly. Sarah was particularly helpful in guiding me to a FREE parking area. Alfriston is not particularly large and free overnight parking can be an issue. Our evening meal of local sausages and mash was very good and reasonably priced. The closeness of Alfriston to the Rathfinny Wine Estate.
This was an ideal location for us to visit family and Alfriston is a lovely village. The property had everything we needed for a short stay and was clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and helpful and the welcome gifts were much appreciated.
Great little lodge in Alfriston, very central and quaint village. Small space but has everything you’d need for a couple of nights for a couple of people
