Location was perfect. A very short drive into town, but off the main streets so no passing car noises at night. The breakfast was amazing. The host went above and behind. They got vegan sausages, milk, and other vegan items for us to have a full cooked vegan brekkie. The host was delightful to talk to and very knowledgeable of the local area

From the minute of arrival till leaving the following morning, the Allanton Inn went above and beyond with anything that they could do to help with the stay ,from staff, service, very friendly and the food was unbelievable. I would seriously consider the 2hour drive to get a chance for another plateful lol. Room was clean, full place is clean, warm and comfy and the beer was even better.. definitely a hidden gem for sure and if a could give more than 10/10 a would.. definitely be there again..

The Allanton Inn rightly prides itself on the wide variety of local produce it uses in its cuisine. Not only is the food varied and delicious, but they also make a point of promoting the many farms and businesses which supply their ingredients, which is admirable. Add to this a comfortable, well-appointed room and a beer garden with glorious views over the Borders countryside, and you have a top-quality stay. Highly recommended.

Purves cottage is perfect in every way. Stylish character, excellent facilities, comfortable light airy and warm. Close to so many interesting places on the Borders and we particularly enjoyed meals and drinks at the Allanton Inn.
