Barking, although recognised as a deprived area of London,...
Barking, although recognised as a deprived area of London, is a pleasant working class suburb of London. The streets were clean and during the day I was happy to see that the shops were all used and open for trade. The people were approachable and friendly (although as in most places there are bound to be others that are not). I went to a local cafe and had something to eat and drink, it was surprisingly cheap and good quality. As it was New Years eve, I had to return to the area in the early hours of the morning, however, felt safe doing so, (again just be aware of the surroundings and stay alert, but this would be the same in any area). The room was boiling hot. there wasn't any AC available. no spare pillows and bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. shower facility was very poor. the room was very small. They call it hotel but most of the customers looked like council use this place as refuge accommodate those people. very poor quality for the money. While the location is in East London, it’s well-connected and conveniently close to the station. The host was very friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience.
