It’s a grand building but relaxing & comfortable
It has an outdoor terrace & restaurant with beautiful views of Bassenthwaite lake. It also has a second more modern restaurant for a change. It has a spa with various steam rooms etc & an outdoor hot tub overlooking the well maintained grounds. The Resident cat.

Fantastic location. Great character building, I was ‘upgraded’ to the West Turret, which was amazing.

Such a lovely area of The Lake District that we haven't explored before. Perfect location to get to Derwent and Buttermere and Catbells. Also Keswick for a mooch around the shops, breakfast and lovely restaurants for evening meals was very handy. The Dash Farmhouse was amazing, very remote with sheep, lambs and chickens and incredible views. Highly recommend!

The Pheasant Inn is an old inn full of atmosphere with excellent food. The lake is set in a beautiful area with great options for walks and drives. As Canadians we were really impressed with how accommodating the whole area is so dog friendly from stores to hotels everywhere welcomed dogs and their owners with water and treats provided.

Liked everything about it, very quiet and peaceful, could hear and see the birds. The location is fairly central to Cockermouth and Keswick. We loved Mirehouse too, definitely worth a visit and that is close by.

A quiet little village in the north of the Lake District far enough away from the main towns of Keswick, etc. to enable you to enjoy the peace of the Lake District without the crowds. Some nice pubs in and around the village where you can experience the local atmosphere and mix with the locals. Best to have a car to explore the areas around the village.

Covers a Friday on an outward joyride <500 miles and an inward of similar distance on the following Monday. Allocated a large room at £119 on Friday and a noticeably smaller one on our return on the Monday at a rate of £129 - no explanation. The hotel allows dogs in dining areas and it was overrun, one customer had 3 dogs, all filthy. Hotel should allow in one area only

Good food, good beer and some nice wines. Friendly staff.
Good food, good beer and some nice wines. Friendly staff.
My room was a little overpriced for what it was (a small double) would be very cramped if two people sharing, but was adequate for the nights stay I needed. I travelled down from Scotland on my way home to London and stopped on the way overnight just to get a dinner and some rest.
The room was in front of a shared entrance so could be noisy and the other guest rooms were close so could occasionally hear talking and general noise. The window opens up onto the road and the car park opposite so can also get noisy if guests arrive or leave.
The location of the premises is perfect for access to walks and the lakes.

The hotel was gorgeous, the pictures just don’t do it justice. A lovely cosy family feel to the whole farm and the surrounding areas were lovely too. We will definitely be back - and for more than one night next time!
It had all of the facilities that you need for a comfortable stay and the location is stunning as you are a stones throw from the Keswick and Bassenthwaite.
