Extremely polite & friendly staff that made me feel very comfortable from the moment I stepped in. Everyone always went the extra mile, from giving me extra waters to delivering a mini fridge to my room for something that needed to be chilled overnight. Definitely worth the extra dollars for this Michelin key hotel.

FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Such a cute little town.

Such a cute little town. Definitely worth visiting but I wouldn’t come for more than 2 nights. They had free walking tours which was amazing!!! And actually free!! (No tips accepted) The guide was top notch. So beautiful when the sun was out. Visiting the parks were a lovely free activity to do.

Bath is an absolutely beautiful city with so much to offer.

Bath is an absolutely beautiful city with so much to offer. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by stunning Georgian architecture, charming streets, and a wonderful sense of history. The Abbey stands proudly at the heart of the city, and the Roman Baths are a must‑see — both impressive and fascinating. One of the best things about Bath is how easy it is to explore on foot. Everything is within walking distance: the shops, the restaurants, the river, the parks, and all the major attractions. There’s always something to see, whether it’s a street performer in the square, a hidden café down a side street, or a breathtaking view from one of the bridges. The city has a lovely atmosphere — lively but relaxed — and there are plenty of great places to eat and drink. It’s the perfect destination for a short break, offering culture, history, beautiful scenery, and a welcoming feel. Bath is a place you can visit again and again and always find something new to enjoy.

The most beautiful city with stunning Georgian buildings, a wide variety of good quality cafes, restaurants and pubs, wonderful places of historic interest, and a wonderful theatre. We visited the Roman Baths, The Georgian House/Museum at 1 Royal Crescent, Beckford's Tower and Museum, did an open-top bus tour of the city, and saw a play at the Theatre Royal, walked round the Botanical Gardens and Victoria Park-all were well worth it. We ate great meals at Antica (Italian) and Esan (Thai); we also loved Rosario's Cafe.

Bath is easily reached using train or Bus from London.

Bath is easily reached using train or Bus from London. When there ample choice for entertainment, eating out, eating in, retail, museums, history, lovely canal walks, river boating options. At least 2 large supermarkets (1 near Bath Central train station) in main historical area to eat in and reduce holiday cost. Options for independent exploring or group excursions. Bath can be made your base for a few days, and catch public transport - train or bus - for day exploring to London, Bristol , Wales and other, or pay for guided tours. We chose to do both. While in Bath make use of free Mayoral walking tour guides - run 2 X daily except weekends.

This hotel, about a ten minute walk from the city centre, was a first time stay. Comfortable, spacious room and a stylish and well appointed ensuite bathroom, shower. With a very large, comfortable bed and good space for clothing storage-also a very useful mini fridge. Staff were polite and the cooked breakfast service, paid as extra, was prompt, sufficient. I would consider using this hotel again in future when on work trips over to Bath, if others seemed to offer less for the price.

Excellent location, good spa facilities, comfortable room - modern and clean. The bathroom was great - bath and separate shower. We really liked this hotel- the only thing that let it down was the breakfast. It’s not cheap and the quality of the cooked breakfast for all 4 of us for two days was really poor. The service was very good from the wait staff. We’d definitely stay again but next time room only- there’s plenty of places nearby for breakfast.

The Dukes is a very nice hotel consisting of two houses knocked into one. It is perfectly located and is just a short stroll into Bath city centre. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Our room (Wellington) was situated on the 2nd floor and was spacious (suite), was well furnished, complete with a comfortable bed, two televisions, complimentary tea & coffee and two bath robes. Location is great. Around a 15 minute walk from the centre. Ample parking available at the hotel so there's no need to park any closer as Bath doesn't seem great to drive around. Good to have a hotel with spa facilities so close to the city centre which means you can escape to something quieter in the evening.
