Cherry the receptionist, who was endlessly cheerful and helpful and even carried our cases up to our bedroom. The spa is lovely, though the sauna could be a bit hotter. The breakfast is just amazing. And far too much for a mere mortal. I really wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful hotel right in the centre of Bath's Royal Crescent. The staff were perfect, helpful and attentive. Many small details marked the stay, which shows the quality of the establishment (magnificent building, splendid interior). The room we stayed in (we had an upgrade) was on the back side of the hotel and had its own little terrace; it was very large with a bedroom area, a ‘sitting’ room, a very large bathroom and an entrance hall. We had no direct neighbours, so the room was very, very quiet. The breakfast was excellent (small buffet, and menu offering different types from full English to eggs benedict, and a vegetarian menu). The spa was very pleasant (too bad the sauna wasn't working, but the hammam, bubble bath and swimming pool were). We went there often and there were never more than 5 of us in the spa. We had also booked a treatment (‘work it out’ massage), which was absolutely brilliant (many thanks to Meg)!

FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Bath has old world charm and its people have a warm and mannerly interaction with visitors. Eating out is excellent especially places like The Raven Pub, Sally Lunns Restaurant and Chenos Deli (George St). If you enjoy books then Toppings on York St is a gem. Lots of live music, including busking of a very high calibre. If you like Irish folk music, try The Ram Pub on a Friday evening on Claverton St.

Bath is a city with lots of attractions and plenty to see and do, in fact it needs several days/trips to really explore properly. It was our second trip and there was still a lot that we didn't get around to seeing. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, though they can be rather crowded on weekend evenings (it was the Easter weekend) but hotel restaurants and brasseries were a good, more peaceful alternative when other eating/drinking places were a bit too crowded in the evening. What we were able to fit in included plenty of varied shopping, including the Guildhall market on Saturday, good bookshops and both chain and independent shops. There was a pleasant, relaxing boat trip from the Pulteney Bridge area, though it's a shame that the boat can no longer land at the pub pier at its destination, and the Holburne Museum was interesting, set in Sydney Gardens and with a nice little indoor cafe and outdoor patio-lovely until it rained!

The parks and gardens are beautiful well worth a walk round.

The parks and gardens are beautiful well worth a walk round. Especially the botanical garden which had a wide variety of trees and shrubs to look at and the birds are enchanting to watch from the very many placed benches, making this a wonderful place to sit and look around. The buildings in the city are eye catching enchantments for everyone. Whether you came for the roman tour or the bridgerton tour you won't be disappointed. History is rich with mountains of good knowledge everywhere you look. Not just in the museums. We attended 2026 spring fayre and that was greatly entertaining with many stalls and street performances. The only negative is the traffic, the tight roads and bends mean cars maybe closer than you'd like, there are many crossings but its still very hard on walking around safely

The hotel is easy to find and perfectly situated for a visit of Bath's main attractions. The room was really well-sized. The air conditioning worked well, however I would have liked to open the balcony door, as I like fresh air in the night. This wasn't possible, but also the only thing I can critique. We came early enough to find a parking space, which was very helpful and walked a few minutes down to Bath city centre. The rest of the stay was perfect.
