The hotel looks more like the stately home it once was, rather than a hotel, and the level of service and luxury matches its ambience. The care taken by the staff in making sure that my allergies were recognised and catered for was outstanding. The dinners were delicious, in a beautiful dining room overlooking the gardens. Breakfast buffet was magnificent and there was no need for lunches while viewing Bath. There is a bus stop, which is recommended, as parking in Bath is not easy. I drove to a hop-on, hop-off stop outside of Bath and then used that to tour.

FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

The Park and Ride facilities are excellent for getting in...

The Park and Ride facilities are excellent for getting in and out of Bath especially if one is staying up a hill. On this occasion as we were attending a function in the Lansdown area we weren't visiting the city. We have in the past. It is a beautiful city with gorgeous surrounding countryside. We visited Dyrham Park which was most enjoyable.

Wonderful history. Walking around the city was easy. Baths and Pump Room are a must to see. Lots of good pubs and restaurants. Would highly recommend The Raven pub. Great local ales. Would also highly recommend the Sanremo Restaurant. We booked the 3 hour Bath walking tour with stops at historical pubs. Our host was brilliant. Highly recommend

Beautiful majestic city. The Forum theatre was true art deco. I was a bit worried by the warning signs and cameras safeguarding clear air, but was assured that because my car was not a business vehicle, with a 2016 engine, I was ok

Beautiful Georgian town. Lovely and elegant.

Beautiful Georgian town. Lovely and elegant. On this visit I went to Number 1 the crescent and on previous visits I have done boat trips, the Frankenstein exhibit, the Jane Austen Centre and the thermal spa. All are good I would say! They are perhaps best done with teens than young children as my two ran out of the Frankenstein exhibit and I think would have found the historical things boring. For dinner try the Eastern Eye (beautiful ceiling), The circus (fine dining), and Noya's Kitchen (Vietnamese). They are all wonderful! The only thing that I found a bit problematic was the levels of homelessness which seemed to be shockingly high! I also found some of these individuals to be a little aggressive in their tactics.

For most people, Bath is small enough to be easily explored on foot. Key places to visit are the Roman Baths Museum, Bath Abbey, the Circus (by John Wood the Elder, 1750) and the Royal Crescent (John Wood the Younger, 1767). I am disabled, yet had no problem finding disabled parking places (and other places I can use with a Blue Badge). On our one-might stay we dined at Wetherspoons - not posh, but clean, inexpensive and very friendly staff.

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at so far. It is in an old 18th century building but was recently renovated. The decour, the choice of colours (loved the royal blue with white), the finishing, the attention to detail - everything was superb. Our room faced the inner garden that added to the beauty of the place. The bed was super comfortable, there was also slippers and robes for the guests. The staff was very nice, helpful and responsive. When I am in Bath again, I will definitelystay in Kennard again!

The Roseate Villa Bath is a beautiful, boutique-style accommodation in a tranquil garden setting. We received personalised service and attention to detail, a warm welcome and the little extras like afternoon tea and homemade treats. The location is also a plus, situated within easy walking distance to the city centre and main attractions like the Roman Baths. The rooms are spacious, stylishly decorated, and very comfortable, contributing to an overall luxurious experience.
