This was a most wonderful property. All members of staff were really nice and helpful. Hotel location in the midst of lush greenery and the historic wonder of the structures were amazing. The room was quite large and the shower refreshing. Breakfast was really good and staff especially helpful. Walking around the grounds is unforgettable.

FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

Top-Class Shopping, Culture and Sport

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centres. Well-known for the M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it is a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city centre hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping centre, and just behind is Digbeth Coach Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Centre) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just opposite is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modelled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top football clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

There is so much to do in Birmingham and plenty to suit all ages. We visited the Thinktank Science Museum which is a great place to spend some time and had lots to occupy us. The garden was especially popular with the kids. If you travel by train, you may be able to use a discount on your Thinktank tickets. If you're looking to shop or eat, there are lots of options in and around the Bullring and we also enjoyed a wander around the market, admiring the huge selection of fruit and vegetables. It's worth the short walk from New Street up to the Museum and Art Gallery, which is free and has a beautiful tea room. There are some great buildings around there too. Birmingham is a fabulous city and we'll definitely be back to visit again.

Only had just over 2 hours to walk around the Birmingham museum. Would have liked to have stayed longer to look at galleries and explore the wider area of Brum. I think this city undersells itself and I will go back and look around a lot more.

It's near BHX and cheap but very basic. The bed was clean and comfortable, so job done for the one night stay which I booked. The room was very small but there was a TV, kettle and even a microwave. No frills but only 29quid for the night. BHX is only 10mins away by the regular X1 or X21 bus service from across the road. That same service going the other way gets you into Birmingham city centre in about 35 minutes. As I say, no frills but also no big bill. I'd stay here again.
