A favoured holiday spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.
On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!
More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognisable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modelled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.
A popular stag and hen do destination, Blackpool offers accommodation ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

We had fun and enjoyed Madame Tussauds and riding on trams which were clean and well kept. the beach was clean and tidy. The Pleasure Beach was way to expensive and a lot of the coasters have seen better days. The Avalanche and the Big One in particular are very uncomfortable to ride and will give you plenty of bruises.

We found Blackpool to be extremely run down.
We found Blackpool to be extremely run down. We have visited many beach locations both in UK and abroad and this was by far the worst.
Our hotel was also very rundown and in need of modernisation (The Best Western Carlton)

Our stay was connected to attending the Winter Gardens Theatre, which is in a lovely location. The roads to the venue were very well-flowing and clear. Everywhere is very well kept, we found.
Parking was accessible nearby, and our return journey to our accommodation (which was excellent) by a different route was very easy to travel.

I went to Blackpool for the Northern Soul Weekender.
I went to Blackpool for the Northern Soul Weekender. I arrived Friday night. Went to the Tower until early hours of Sat. On Sat morning I went to Madame Tussauds, had a long walk, went back to my room, had food and went back to the Tower. Sunday was copy and paste but this time I went to Sealife, which was fab, also took a long stroll along the beach. Monday bought some souvenirs and caught the coach home. Weather was perfect the whole weekend

Finding this little gem was brilliant. I usually stay in the big hotel on the seafront, so we didn't know what the Ascot was going to be like. We were both surprised. The staff (Noren) were amazing. Nothing was ever too much. My family is coming back down to Blackpool for my dad's 80th, and we have already booked up with the Ascot. Oh, the breakfast is delicious! Amazing staff, amazing rooms, amazing breakfast for an amazing price. Thanks for making it a home away from home. 💚
The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating. They go out of thier way to ensure a comfortable stay.
Cheap and cheerful. Standard room with TV, shower and toilet.
So close to everything you need, cafes, amusements, seafront, blackpool tower, high street.
No curfews come and go as you please. Great lounge area when you're not in your room. Bar area. Smoking area.
Thank you Sellina and family for an amazing stay. Would recommend 👌
Excellent central location with parking very close by. Cannot fault the hotel stay-or improve it in any way. So clean, orderly, well equipped and comfortable. Staff were brilliant and room was spacious. Many breakfast options in close proximity ,but very reasonable option for room service upon request . Highly recommended -it will be our absolute first choice for our next stay in Blackpool .
Went with family, 12 of us 5 adults, & 2 kids under 2. Staff couldn't have bn any more helpful. Especially the ladies on reception. Food was tremendous, definitely be bk again. Bn going to Blackpool since 1974&The Cliffs definitely the best hotel I've stayed.
I live staying here when I visit Blackpool, it’s the perfect location on North Shore Hotel although dated it is extremely comfortable inside and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I would say one of Britannia‘s best hotels!
