The hotel is quite and clean and stylish despite being very close to the centre. The rate was very reasonable. The rooms are of a good size and the beds and pillows are very comfortable. The TV has many good channels and Internet quality is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful and special thanks to Jithin (from India / Kerla) who was extremely helpful, professional and nice.

My family and parents had an excellent 2-night stay at Applewood Hotel for my daughter's graduation. The owners and staff (especially Huyen who was lovely and incredibly helpful and kind) are extremely welcoming and really want to make sure that their guests are happy and comfortable. The rooms (Triple, Standard doubles) were spacious, very clean, and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. Huyen made sure we had everything we needed and made delicious scrambled eggs! You really get a warm, family feel at this hotel. The hotel is very well-located, just a few minutes walk from the centre of Bournemouth. We'd definitely go back with pleasure!

The facilities are amazing. I only wished we'd stayed longer to take advantage. Very well located near the beach. Good sized room with a kettle and nice ensuite. Very friendly staff who were able to direct me to the best local pub to watch the finale of the Premier League.

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

The seafront and green spaces are the star of the show, however the shopping centre with its boarded up stores, nail bars and tattoo parlours is pretty typical of many rundown English seaside resorts.

Where to start? Some very good, som awful.

Where to start? Some very good, som awful. Hotel was excellent n a good location. If you drive here, watch where you park, lots of evidence of cars being broken into! Leaves and more leaves - bring a brush to reveal double yellow lines! Don’t park under trees - bird droppings and lots of it. Paved arrears - lots of opportunities to break your neck! The overwhelming smell of cannabis - everywhere along with plenty of anti-social behaviour! Our pastime - watching the shop lifters!

I’ve stayed in Bournemouth a lot of times. I know what the surrounding areas are like. It’s not the best could do with a bit of up-and-coming but it is what it is. Being honest, I did book for Expedia to start with and it was Eastcliffe beliva which was currently shut down derelict no cars in the car park staff sign on the door saying go to the Carlton went to the Carlton and they didn’t even have room. I was with my four-year-old daughter so I was very stressed so I know the Royal and I booked the Royal. It’s the only way that I could stay in Bournemouth for the night so wasn’t happy about that but we had a good time and my daughter loved it and I would go again.

I am actually from Bournemouth originally and come to visit relatives. The best thing about Bournemouth is the beach and the chines. The central gardens are also nice, but the town centre in general is a little run-down.

Bournemouth offers a superb seaside experience with immaculate sandy beaches and numerous top class restaurants, bars, shops, hotels, gardens and entertainment. The views across the clean safe sea and coastline are world class. Transport is excellent and parking plentiful. l thoroughly recommend Bournemouth to visitors of all ages

Bournemouth is quite large and I'm not sure where...

Bournemouth is quite large and I'm not sure where Bournemouth ends and Poole starts. We did a treasure trail and walked from Poole to Bournemouth so we learned a lot and saw a lot that we wouldn't have seen. The trail finished at the pier. There are classy areas and less classy areas to Bournemouth but that's the same for a lot of coastal towns. We went by train and used some of the buses.

The hotel is ideal for a stay in the Bournemouth area. It's a 10 - 15 minute walk to the beach or the pier, with good footpaths. Parking was great. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well presented. From the first welcome to the final goodbye, the staff were all good, helpful and efficient. Everything worked in the room. It was comfortable. The decor was good - breakfast was good every morning. Good selection of teas etc in the room

Being back at the Royal Bath Hotel since the mid seventies when I was a trainee hotel manager. To experience of a warm welcome at Reception and I have to say that Andreea, behind the desk was such a warm welcome to Bournemouth, she needs an award in Hospitality.

The location was excellent and not far from Bournemouth beach, we were near too most of the restaurants we wanted to visit, the hotel was child friendly with plenty of parking for the car. The staff were absolutely amazing and were so friendly and kind too.
