FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

The beach walks, its a long coast so you can end up in Bournemouth pier side and then Boscombe going further up. I recommend inbetween both as on either side its quite busy but so nice to sit and listen to the sound of the waves. Theres the central park area further up and some vegan restaurants (recommend - Mad Cucumber for their cakes) and town area.

Bournemouth is a typical seaside town. Quite dated.

Bournemouth is a typical seaside town. Quite dated. Some main shops. have gone. Pretty much same as any other town. BUT the Gardens are wonderful. Events go on there. Great to sit and laze there. Seafront nice area, big wheel. Pier is now free. Zip wire. Parking is way too expensive 😫

I love Bournemouth/ Dorset very much I lived there for 10years. Don't realise how much until I revisit I would like to have stayed longer but due to personal circumstances I needed to return home However I will come back I would choose to stay at the village and make use of the other facilities offered on site 💚🤍♥️🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Best beach in the country. Lovely parks and walks.

Best beach in the country. Lovely parks and walks. Beach and public realm areas well maintained by council. Shopping area falling apart. Need to get on and convert those big closed stores to accommodation. Not enough non food stores. Need more choice of small supermarkets such as Morrison and/or Sainsbury Locals in the centre. Too many take-away eateries. (No surprise. Typical seaside but Bournemouth is in danger of losing it's class).

The seafront and green spaces are the star of the show, however the shopping centre with its boarded up stores, nail bars and tattoo parlours is pretty typical of many rundown English seaside resorts.

I had a great experience staying at this hotel in Bournemouth city centre. The staff were extremely professional and friendly throughout my visit, which made a real difference. The breakfast was excellent, with a good variety and great quality. The room was quite hot, but fortunately, it was equipped with a portable fan which helped a lot. The on-site bar was also a highlight – stylish, well-stocked, and a great place to relax in the evening. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely return!

Located in the cleaner and leafier end of west Bournemouth hotel land, this small hotel is one of many in between the city centre (The Triangle) and the West Cliff. Basic, a bit dated but functional and comfortable. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, letting me leave a suitcase for a few hours after I checked out. Good value.

It's not luxury but it's cheap, comfortable and perfectly OK. Don't know why everyone else complains about it. It is what it is. Go expecting the Ritz you'll be disappointed. If you want a hotel in the centre of Bournemouth right on the beach at a great price then this will suffice.
