IrelandLocation was central to our needs, a short stroll from shops, pubs, eateries etc. breakfast was delicious hot cooked breakfast with an array of cereals, pastries, yoghurts, juices etc.
hotel was undergoing a little construction, this didn’t hamper our stay and staff were professional and friendly.
We travelled for a funeral, check in was altered to suit our needs and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. Will definitely use this hotel again

I liked the ease of the public transport system in Bradford which was reasonably priced (a day ticket was £6). I enjoyed the curry that I had at Mumtaz Restaurant on the outskirts of the city. The Waterstones was amazing and the location was epic.

We had primarily travelled to the North to go to Headingley and Old Trafford to watch some cricket, but decided to take an extra day (and night) to visit Bradford too.
Where we stayed was just on the Bradford side of the Leeds/Bradford divide, but would have been adequate for visiting either city.
We found there was plenty of interesting and inexpensive places to eat in Bradford. We tried:
- the Sweet Centre on Lumb lane - they have been going since 1964 so clearly getting something right, what we had was good, but there were other things that passed our table which looked even better, maybe worth watching what the locals are eating and asking what it is. And
- Jinnah on Leeds Road - delightful food, very friendly staff, and very reasonably priced, cannot praise it enough.
We also went to the Odsal stadium to watch some rugby league. It was unlike any other stadium I have ever visited and well worth a visit (obviously best when there is a game on).
Finding a nice pub, was more difficult than we expected, but those that we did find were very cheap (at least for those of us from the South) and generally welcoming.

A delightful city full of interesting history and outstanding architecture. Very friendly locals. Also the curry capital of the UK. The city and its attractions, museums etc are all accessible by foot except the curry restaurants which are a short bus or taxi ride away.

Bradford is 'different', but in a good way. It is one of Britain's most multicultural cities. Historically, it was the heart of Britain's woollen garment industry, which attracted tens of thousands of immigrant workers and families from Britain's then-Empire/Commonwealth. Many of the descendants of those families are today successful entrepreneurs. The City is veritably a Curry Capital, vying with Birmingham, Leicester (etc), but with its 'own' brand of quality. Among many hundreds of restaurants and takeaways serving Asian food it has some with distinguished reputations, including at least one that has achieved Michelin-star status. Alongside this demographic, Bradford has several Galleries which relate to its historic development. At the same time, it is also a 'Hot Spot' for the British traditional food, Fish and Chips! There is nowhere else in the UK which has such a high-quality, ultra-competitive and yet very affordable fish & chip trade. For around a Tenner you can get fish & chips that would grace a banquet! Bradford is not a large City, like Leeds or Manchester - It is quite compact and can be explored in a day or two. It possesses many fine building around the centre and in the old 'German' district. It also has a vibrant Film Centre, which won a UNESCO 'World' designation in 2009. Its music venues include the famous St George's Concert Hall. Areas around Bradford include striking small hills and villages. Its two railway stations include a Line that runs North-West towards Skipton, providing spectacular viewing from the train. It is also well-connected by public transport to Leeds, Harrogate, London and Leeds-Bradford Airport.

Not a great city stay in the centre and you’ll be fine. Choice of restaurants is now very limited as most of the good ones have moved out of town, if it wasn’t for the Alhambra Theatre and Media museum there’s very little reason to visit

The city centre itself is architecturally impressive, lots of lovely Victorian buildings and the streets have had a makeover due to the Bradford 2025 status. The Alhambra and Bradford Live venues are impressive and there seems lots to do and see. A few nice restaurants too.
However, the city can feel a little intimidating at times, gangs of young men and kids and lots of homeless, particularly if you venture outside of the immediate city centre. The Broadwalk shopping centre is clean and modern, but other areas of the city centre and run down and very tired, with lots of empty shops. More phone and vape shops than anywhere else I've been in the UK for some reason.
Beware also of the standard of driving in the city, as speed limits, traffic lights and indicators are frequently ignored, so always check twice before crossing the road!

The city itself is not so very interesting, but it is an excellent location for countless wonderful trips to other nearby cities, towns and countryside, very easily accessible by train or bus. (Leeds, York, Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Fountains Abbey, Halifax, Haworth, Hebden Bridge, NP Yorkshire Dales, ...... ). In Bradford, see what's playing at the beautiful historic theatre.

I love Bradford for a short break. What Bradford some people say!
The city itself has good cinemas and the National Media Museum, I watched Avitar in 3D on the IMAX screen there...wow amazing!! There S also The Light cinema in shopping centre.
Theres some great architecture in the city showing the wealth of the woollen mills of the past.
Saltaire just down the road..or by quick train ride is fabulous and Salts Mill has David Hockney exhibits.
Great selection of resturants, including curry supreme places!
A great base for exploring the beautiful countryside

It was the city of Culture in 2025 and has a diverse population and a lot of history to be seen in the city and nearby. Its a great base for Yorkshire, the Dales, Bronte Country, Canals, and a lot more to explore further afield.

Bradford was very nice. I did notice a lack of leaflets describing local attractions but there were several describing places which were further away. Science & media museum superb, we travelled by bus to Shibden Hall, Halifax, Saltaire and Catwright Hall but no leaflets on any of these attractions in the hotel. the bus service was really good & the bus station

Bradford is a city from the past, run down whilst attempting to be modern, too many tastes to please... Having said all that it is my CITY, I was born in a Bradford suburb went to school there and love it as the place of my birth and childhood. It used to be a proud City now it is a shadow of its former past. Why it can be considered as a 'City of culture' is beyond me... All its history and magnificence is compromised all its character has been replaced by extremist ideologies that DO NOT WORK in harmony and certainly are not on the same page. INCLUSIVITY intentions RESULTS IN EXCLUSIVITY in reality... Revisit history where you can, the Town hall is a very fine building, St Georges Hall and the Alhambra are steeped in history and grand days. The Midland Hotel and Great Victoria need returning to their splendid past, alas as with most things years of damage perhaps means that is impossible. What next 'decent public transport in and out of the city centre would certainly help!!!!

Lots of history, and easy to get round as plenty of buses, get day tickets for unlimited trips.Lister park is a real treasure with Cartwright hall. Saltaire mill and the industrial museum are great places to visit with family.
Places to eat , plenty of good curry houses,---My Lahore, our favorite, also the Polish Bistro just round from the Leonardo hotel is fabulous!!
The centre has a water park used by families on hot summer nights ---- unfortunately in August the Alhambra theatre is shut down for re-furb. So we couldn't see anything in there!!
Centre can be a bit confusing with old and new mix , lots of eateries in Broadway Centre but very few cafe with outside tables.
For piece and quiet, Bradford Catherdral is lovely and Lister Park is well worth a wander through.

Bradford gets a bum rap, which is a shame as it's got so much. Overshadowed by Leeds just a few miles away (why?!), Bradford is working hard to ditch the brutal mistakes of 70s town planning - and look what's hiding underneath! Gems of Victorian architecture; an increasingly walking friendly city centre; three superb arts/music venues; and a vibrant vibe that comes for its centuries of diverse communities making the city their home. Never boring!
Top tip - Waterstones! It's in the old wool trading building on Hustlergate and is truly magnificent.

This year is the city of culture in Bradford. Not having been back for many years I expected lots of change and I was'nt disappointed. Total culture change very sad in some ways and good in others. The town centre is a collection of gambling places hair salons and the high street favourite charity shops. However the new Kirkgate market on Darley Street has had some work done on it. My only thought on that is why so many empty listed buildings and still construct a new one. I am sure there are many reasons. It is my hometown so will always be a special place for me.

Bradford is this year's city of culture, and we went for the steam train journey to Carlisle. they are doing another one in autumn, I recommend doing it first class.
We found some great restaurants in town and very good value for money. It was disappointing how few people were out and about in the town on an evening, but I guess that is a reflection of the culture of the city.

Bradford actually includes the wonderful towns, villages of Saltaire, Ilkley, Haworth.....Wuthering Heights anyone? (The real one)!!! Easy trip to & thru All Creatures land....Grassington.
Leeds: 10 minute train. Guided Dales rambles by train, bus, no need for vehicle!

Bradford is this year's City of Culture. It has a wonderful architectural heritage. The spacious city centre is now completely pedestrianised, with attractive gardens around City Hall.
Excellent public transport to attractions outside the centre - Saltaire and Salts Mill particularly worth a visit.

Wonderfully warm and friendly locals, fabulous restaurants and numerous stunning Victorian buildings. Excellent parks all within walking distance of our hotel, the Cambridge, and many wonderful sites to see very close to Bradfield such as Saltaire all of which can be easily reached by train and bus.

In 3 days we spent half a day at the Museum of Film and science , good value
2nd day caught bus to Saltaire where we spent whole day visiting Salts Mill, lookinfg at the retail outlets and exhibitions and the park. Great Hockney themed exhibition and historical materrial along with an excellent cafe and restaurant
3rd day we caught the Leeds to Carlisle train (accessed from Bradford station) which involved a stunnung trip acroiss the Hills through Skipton, Settle, Dent and Appleby to CARLISLE. hAD FOUR HOURS EXPLORING cARLISLE BEFORE RETURNING TO bRADFORD FOR DINNER

This is a review of Shipley, not Bradford. we didn't go into Bradford itself. Shipley is a very busy little town with lots of through traffic. It is well situated for visiting Saltaire Village which is a World Heritage Site. The Mill houses the Hockney exhibition but note it is closed Mon/Tues. For a great pint and pizza visit Salts Brewery, not to be confused with Saltaire Brewery which is the other end of town. Plenty of buses locally and good train service into Leeds and Skipton. The bakery in Saltaire is great. Try the Jamaican slice. Even if you're not veggie it's delicious. Be prepared to queue as it's always busy. If you want a cheap but good breakfast go to the little cafe in Shipley Market. You won't be disappointed. Plenty of character. For a very good reasonably priced evening meal try Sambuco Italian. Two courses for £11.95. But you ,must book in advance, It's very popular. Also, for a heritage visit take a drive or get a bus to East Riddlesden Hall. It's a fabulous site dating from 17th century. It has a delightful cafe on site.

The grade 2 listed building has been part of my life as I'm a fellow Bradford lass whom moved away 5 years ago to a different county .I was visiting due to a family wedding.was looking forward to our visit as we had stayed in the hotel ten years ago for a family wedding in side the hotel .we were very impressed with this large beautiful hotel.at that time very different this time round.

Convenient for motorway access, plenty of parking close to the hotel and efficient check-in.
The room was clean and spacious, the bed comfortable and there was a nice view of hills around Bradford.
The lounge was OK; the seating was a bit cramped.
The manager, Naz, is lovely and very helpful. She is always available to the residents and will always find a solution to any question.

The hotel is well situated right in the city centre, check in was simple and straight forward, and the room was really clean and just felt comfortable. The shower and bath were first class. A most enjoyable one night stay and I will definately used the hotel again when I next visit Bradford.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, staff were lovely and the rooms were very clean, location is right in the centre and only 10 minutes walk from Bradford Live
