FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

A clean, organised and walkable city with plenty of places...

A clean, organised and walkable city with plenty of places to visit (some of them even for free), an abundance of Gothic cathedrals and parks with romantic gardens and friendly chonky squirrels, architecture that reflects appreciation of the past intertwined with a vision for the future and general love and care for the common grounds and their history that Bristolians share. People were very polite and approachable regardless of where you go. Weather was moody, but that never stoped anyone. It's 15 minutes away from Bath by train (Temple Meads Station). It's a bit pricey though, so keep that in mind.

The Air Raid Shelter walking tour around the Corn Exchange...

The Air Raid Shelter walking tour around the Corn Exchange was excellent - would recommend it to anyone, A visit to buy chocolates from Guilbert's in Small Street is a must. We ate in Cote Brasserie and the Sausage Factory in Clifton. A visit to the Llnadoger Trow is a must to see where Daniel Defoe met Alexander Selkirk giving him the idea to write Robinson Crusoe.

Been coming to Bristol for decades and as always, the good...

Been coming to Bristol for decades and as always, the good bits (Stokes Croft, the Cathedral area, the harbour) remain good and everywhere else just seems to get a bit grubbier and a bit less cared for. Its a vibrant city, very much a 'university town', with a great arts culture, some fabulous galleries and music venues & exceptional pubs/restaurants, but a couple of days in town is usually enough.

For me and my friend Bristol was a nice discovery. It is charming, may be not extremely much sightseeing to do, but it was a nice relaxing feeling we've got there. We use it to make a one day visits to Bath and Oxford.

Ours was a short trip down memory lane as I was a student at Bristol, living in Clifton many years ago. We focused on Clifton, which is now more characterful and charming than it was when I lived there. We took a walk to the vibrant docks area but will leave the rest of Bristol for future visits.

Great city steeped in history.

Great city steeped in history. Lots of attractions for all ages. We enjoyed walking around the city and used the buses a few times to go back to hotel. It gives you a bit of tour but saves tired legs from more walking. We visited M Shed, Spike Island Art, plus walked up to SS Great Britain and bussed it to Clifton Suspension Bridge. Great views of the city from here! We also took in the sights of Harbourside and its many eateries & bars. On our second day we went to the cathedral and scoured the record shops then walked along the harbourside again.

We have just stayed overnight at Bristol City Centre and found the hotel to be excellent in a lovely location near to the old part of the city.
