I lived there for 20 years.

I lived there for 20 years. This was my first proper visit in 10 years and the city is still vibrant and cool with numerous excellent restaurants and bars, live music and comedy. you can do the whole weekend on food surrounded by great architecture, culture, history and green spaces.

I absolutely loved Bristol.

I absolutely loved Bristol. It’s a vibrant, characterful city, with a wonderful mix of historic streets, waterfront, green spaces and independent culture. It has a slightly unconventional feel that gives it a real personality, and it’s a fantastic city to explore on foot. I had a superb lunch at the Clifton Sausage.

Day trip to Bath and to Weston-super-Mare by train taking a bus from the hotel rather than driving. Bristol itself has beautiful architecture, Old Vic and Hippodrome, Redcliffe Church, great shops, great restaurants, great public transport, Clifton suspension bridge etc etc

The area around the river was full of interesting museums...

The area around the river was full of interesting museums boat trips and eateries and of course the SS Gt Britain was a real treat. A university city, it is youthful and vibrant. Bristol takes its history seriously with candid information about its past. Lots of walking tours are available. There is plenty to see just by walking around but is also so close to Bath for a day visit. Just 12 minutes by train.

The old city centre around King Street is very lively at night, with good beer, food and music. We did the long boat trip, informative, and Clifton was worth an evening visit, to the restaurants, pubs and the suspension bridge, we got Uber there and back, less than £10 there and back.

The guest house was ideally, placed but no mention at the guest house was said of the outlet at Willow brook,plus there was a fish and chips shop,which was too late to use,by the time I found it (M1 bus stops there). Plus when I asked about the Bus going to Bristol city centre,I was told the wrong side of the road. Accommodation is like stepping back to seventies,though they are doing refurbishment. The continental breakfast is plenty and help yourself and is enough for more elderly people,but don't recommend if your wanting a full cooked breakfast,as little or no restaurants locally.Bristol on M1 bus is about 25 mins or more depending on traffic.Though parking is ample at the side,when full ,virtually not lit, so difficult if as I had to, when reversing backwards.into a space.

The staff were very friendly, the hotel is very clean and they provided a good breakfast. The location seems far away at first. However, the bus stop is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. You can get a 70 or 74 bus which takes you to the city centre. Overall, I enjoyed my stay as I had a good nights sleep on both nights. I will probably book this hotel again for my next visit to Bristol.

The location was great for easy access to both Clifton village - which was just a short stroll away and back into Bristol City Centre - with a bus stop on both sides of the road immediately outside the hotel. The Staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was large and clean with a huge double bed which was very comfortable.

This was an ideal hotel for us to stay in on a weekend in Bristol. The breakfast selection is excellent. Rooms were spacious and quiet at night, and above all, everything was nice and clean. We love The Bristol Hotel for it's location, comfort and cleanliness. Perfect for a city centre break. Parking next door is convenient. Breakfast, although very good, its a bit chaotic and we had to queue for 10 minutes to get a table. Overall our stay was great and we will be back.
