FAQs about hotels in Cambridge

The Inspiration for Genius

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.

Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!

Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.

Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.

Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

The city has many beautiful buildings, from the grand old University edifices to city centre streets of terraced Victorian homes with pretty gardens. The museums are worth a visit - I was surprised how interesting was the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The Corpus Clock is interesting. Nice walks by the river, punt rides, good pubs and restaurants (try the backstreet Geldart Arms for its hot rocks cooked venison or ribeye steaks - see photo - and a great range of ales). Cambridge also has the best beer festival in the country (every May) - extremely well-organised and family friendly, on Jesus Green. A short drive or bus ride from the city are Grantchester (as featured in the TV series of that name) and its lovely Blue Ball Inn; and RSPB Fen Drayton wildlife reserve.

This hotel is right beside the train station. 7 pounds for an Uber to the Duxford Aerodrome. For us, it was perfect. The name, B&B, is misleading. This is a proper hotel. B&B is a big hotel group across Europe.

My wife and I love Cambridge as a whole but this facility which was advertised as something special was far from it we will never stay here again You can see from the photos attached. This is promotes as spa bath which doesn’t work also promoted as a bed for a third person which is a camp bed not acceptable. Please do not book or advise anybody’s book this property as this is not acceptable.

Always lots going on in Cambridge.

Always lots going on in Cambridge. Be prepared to see strange sights and people dressed in some cases in an outlandish fashion. All this adds to the culture of Cambridge. Lots of museums to visit and we enjoyed a trip to the Botanic Gardens, a true delight. We ate at Prezzo Italian down by the river but service and food were not good. There is alot of walking to be done in Cambridge but buses are plentiful and usually every 20 minutes.

We visited Cambridge to see my old friend, and my husband stayed at this hotel and really enjoyed the spa. The facilities were clean, and the room was spacious. The price was surprisingly affordable. I noticed several tour groups of retirees staying there. Whether you’re retired or still working, it’s a great place to relax and unwind at a reasonable price. Wishing the business continued success in such a competitive market.

Second time we’ve stayed here. Location is fantastic, right in the heart of Cambridge, a college experience with hotel quality rooms. Room excellent, spacious, very well equipped, comfortable, good shower, good wifi. Copious self-serve breakfast in the college dining hall, access to all of the grounds. And whilst not directly related, we used the Madingley Park&Ride which was brilliant - cheap parking and a bus every 10 minutes that goes along Jesus Lane almost to the door.

Parking is plentiful but dreadful (and extra £) in the same sense. Big car park but full of what I assume are commuters, so if you can get there before 7am, no worries. If you can't then good luck! And if you ask the hotel staff for help, they're clueless. How can an out of town hotel struggle with parking?!?! Maybe it's because Cambridge hates cars.

A great location and nice facilities such as the spa and gymnasium that I used. The food was excellent and would definitely come again. Cambridge is a great place to explore and the hotel is about a 20 minute drive, there is a park and ride option as parking in the city centre is very expensive.
