The breakfast selection and quality was excellent this coupled with a very nice setting with an outdoor area made for a enjoyable experience. The rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The location was excellent, very near the river Cam and walking distance into town. However the availability of the bikes for hire was fantastic and we used these every day, sometimes twice a day.

FAQs about hotels in Cambridge

The Inspiration for Genius

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.

Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!

Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.

Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.

Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

Fabulous architechture everywhere, not just the colleges.

Fabulous architechture everywhere, not just the colleges. Easy to walk around with plenty to see. Fitzwilliam Museum has a great collection of art and doesn't take too long to get around so won't take to much of your day if your only on a day trip. Huge variety of places to eat from every continent. We ate at a small Nepalese restaurant and the food was both delicious and value for money. We downloaded the parking app and found parking for a very reasonable price in Park Street.

I was surprised by the number of excellent free museums in Cambridge. I also really enjoyed the Botanical Gardens. The famous old university colleges were interesting to see. It was a bit like London but on a smaller more manageable scale. Staying at The Regent Aparthotel meant we didn't have to spend money in restaurants, as there was a mini kitchen area in the flat. We traveled to Cambridge by train and were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Excellent place for a short break or day out. I'd definitely go again.

I've been to Cambridge multiple times for work each year since 1985. Greatest pleasure is to walk never taking the same route and explore the alleys and footpaths. Never felt unsafe even late at night. Lots of the buildings are heading for 1000 years old. For me evensong in the kings college chapel (most afternoons) is of the highest quality in an amazing setting There is theatre, arts and live music advertised on every set of railings, but wander through whichever of the greens (parks) and gardens are open... There will be heritage cattle and sheep as well as flora and fauna

Used the park and ride which was perfect, except, it finishes to early , and didn’t run to a decent time on New Years Eve , finished at 8.30 . Do they realize each bus saves 75 vehicles, Cambridge is very interesting, lots of interesting buildings, loads of food venues, and a great choice in the market of street vendor foods , lots of Asian and Japanese restaurants, great pubs , went to the oldest pub in Cambridge, walked along the river, watched the boaters , had a very pleasant visit, and would also recommend a visit to Newmarket,

Will never forget White house lodge B&B at Cambridge.  £54 price is not cheap, should be changed lodge B&B to P&P,  ie Poor & Poor. Has been lived over 20 different hotels in UK. This so-called lodge is the most disgusting. I don't think Indian guy room service has replaced the bed sheet or not. Hate indian people. This is the first time, also the last time living. So-called breakfast, forget it. Extremely dirty public kitchen. Without cleaning without repairing anything at all lodge.

The best hotel I've stayed at! The owners are extremely kind and helpful, I felt very appreciated and all my needs were met. The room is small but it is very comfortable and it has everything it needs - a flat-screen TV, a small fridge, a kettle. There is also a microwave accessible to all guests. Everything is very clean, I had fresh towels every day. The bus stop is just a minute away across the road. I will definitely stay there one more time if I ever visit Cambridge again.

We were booked into one of the apartments, which had everything needed for our 2 night stay in Cambridge - fully equipped kitchen, sitting and dining area and air-con in the bedroom. The hotel is very close to the city centre and we were lucky enough to be able to get one of the hotel's parking spaces. The rooms were spotless and staff was very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely book again next time we're in Cambridge!

Parking is plentiful but dreadful (and extra £) in the same sense. Big car park but full of what I assume are commuters, so if you can get there before 7am, no worries. If you can't then good luck! And if you ask the hotel staff for help, they're clueless. How can an out of town hotel struggle with parking?!?! Maybe it's because Cambridge hates cars.
