Staff couldnt have been more welcoming. Parking was free and ample and it is a 5 minute straight walk into the city centre. Hotel was nice and warm and was so nice to come into a cosy warm bedroom - but then we could turn the radiators down when we slept so it didnt get too hot. No food on premises but the lady at reception encouraged us to bring food into the hotel if we needed. Bathroom was new looking and spotless . Bed comfortable and coffee, tea and biscuits in room along with coat hangers in the wardrobe ( always very much appreciated ) . Really good value for money on our one night stay in coventry for a gig. So thank you

FAQs about hotels in Coventry

The Legacy of Legends

South-east of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.

In the neighbouring gardens are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife - Lady Godiva - became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest at her husband’s high taxes.

St Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Also here is Coventry Airport, by the Midland Air Museum, whose exhibits include a Vulcan.

The Coventry Transport Museum houses examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Also historic are the canals north of the city centre, lined by Grade II-listed buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Centre.

The city has 2 universities, so naturally features many bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guest houses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.

We couldn't understand why the medieval centre of Coventry, including the cathedral, was not rebuilt after large-scale destruction during the war. Similarly historic cities in Germany, like Wurzburg, were rebuilt from the ground up. The area around the old and new cathedrals is tacky and hideous, with the largest Primark I've ever seen right next door!

We stayed in order to attend a function in the city. We were previously residents of Coventry but had not been back for some years. We sadly found the city looked shabby and rundown, with a lot of litter in the streets.

Appalling. Cold food, rats in the courtyard, rubbish all over the car park, behind bed and very rude staff. Wouldn't want to stay for £0.00 if offered the place needs shutting down and reporting the heath department especially with vermin outside.

This was a first visit to Coventry.

This was a first visit to Coventry. The cathedral was absolutely amazing. We were also able to see a rehearsal of a play in the old cathedral to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Coventry blitz. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to visit all of the Herbert art gallery and museum but what we did see was very interesting. Would definitely like to come back again.

We came here for the Bob Dylan concert and took the opportunity to explore the city. The ruined/new cathedrals were lovely and moving; the Guildhall beautiful and the Transport Museum excellent. After the blitz in 1940 large swathes of the City were replaced with 1960s architecture which have not stood the test of time.

Coventry has a pleasant shopping area, and the multi-storey car park was easy to access and navigate, with reasonable prices. There were several well-known food options, and we chose the Slug and Lettuce because it offered the best vegan and vegetarian choices for the group. I also enjoyed a very good coffee from an independent café.
