This property is ideal for anyone looking to visit Coventry as it’s located in the city centre. Our second stay and again it was excellent, we will definitely be staying there again. Quiet, comfortable beds and spacious well equipped rooms. The breakfast is also excellent and they have a great bar area.

We were just looking for a place to sleep on our way south from visiting historic castles and such, and were not expecting to sleep in such an ancient and beautiful building, but then this abbey popped up on our radar that night, and captured our imaginations instantly. And we were not disappointed. Amazing end to a fantastic day. Would have been cool in a building like this if the hotel offered an option for experiencing something scary in the middle of the night, as if the house was haunted or something like that, if specifically requested when booking. Perhaps the TV could be set to turn on suddenly and wake us up, and when we react by turning it off, it triggers some further spookiness, like a figure flying past our window or walking the garden beneath the window. Perhaps drawing us out of our rooms to sneak down the stairs chasing some mystery. But nah, would probably not make for a restful night haha. And might be hard to pull off without disturbing other guests, anyway.

Everything was good: cosy room, fast room service, delicious breakfast (booking in advance at night decreases price). Hotel staff supported in any questions and was pleasant! One moment was location not in the city center (e.g., taxi was needed to go to University), but near to train station Coventry.

FAQs about hotels in Coventry

The Legacy of Legends

South-east of Birmingham, Coventry is best known for the shell of its old cathedral, a poignant reminder of the damage sustained during World War II. Part of its northern wall joins the new Modernist cathedral, designed by Sir Basil Spence.

In the neighbouring gardens are remains of an 11th-century Benedictine monastery set up by Lord Leofric. His wife - Lady Godiva - became Coventry’s greatest legend by riding naked on horseback in protest at her husband’s high taxes.

St Mary’s Guildhall is built on part of the old castle, and Baginton on the city’s outskirts houses the reconstructed Roman Lunt Fort. Also here is Coventry Airport, by the Midland Air Museum, whose exhibits include a Vulcan.

The Coventry Transport Museum houses examples of vehicles manufactured in the city over the years. Also historic are the canals north of the city centre, lined by Grade II-listed buildings. Other attractions include the Warwick Arts Centre – the UK’s 2nd largest – and the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC. The Sky Dome Arena is an ice hockey and music venue, while the best shopping is found in Arena Park Centre.

The city has 2 universities, so naturally features many bars and restaurants. There are also several Coventry hotels, guest houses and country houses on Booking.com, most with parking and some with pools.

We had a terrible experience with this hotel, after getting soaked at a football tournament,I looked forward to having a hot shower, they had a broken boiler, there was no internet & no extra pillows!! In the year of 2026 you expect to be able to take a shower or at least be told when checking in! The worst thing was we missed our second day of the tournament!!!😡😡😡

Coventry cathedral is always my main reason for visiting.

Coventry cathedral is always my main reason for visiting. It's just incredible. Never mind that the new cathedral is one of the ugliest buildings I know - it's also the most beautiful in its meaning and symbolism and still has its beautiful old cathedral medieval ruins and tower. Start in the ruins and follow the story of destruction and then bravery and reconciliation before you move into the new cathedral; make sure you walk right to the altar steps and then turn around and see the wonderful blaze of coloured glass that's been hiding in plain sight until now. If you want to see courage, acceptance and resurrection in stone and glass, this place is for you. You will be welcomed, no matter your faith or non-faith and encouraged to wander around, to be yourself, to find your own meaning in its architecture, and just to experience this amazing place. If in doubt, google 'Coventry cathedral welcome sign'. I've visited all the Anglican cathedrals in England and this is the one that I come back to every few months. You'll be given a similarly warm welcome at St. Clare's at the cathedral, a separate church in what used to be the cathedral gift shop. It has a huge variety of gifts and will welcome you whoever you are and wherever you find yourself in life... you might even choose to buy some of the jewellery that I make to support them! Aside from these two, Coventry's a hugely diverse city with a proud history of resistance and resilience (google Lady Godiva if you don't already know the story), a wonderful market hall where just about every culture on earth seems to sell something and a city centre that is dotted with historic buildings and remains amongst the post-war architecture. I'm proud to call it my second home.

We couldn't understand why the medieval centre of Coventry, including the cathedral, was not rebuilt after large-scale destruction during the war. Similarly historic cities in Germany, like Wurzburg, were rebuilt from the ground up. The area around the old and new cathedrals is tacky and hideous, with the largest Primark I've ever seen right next door!

Conveniently close to NEC (cca 15 minutes by car). Very good value for a big room, separate bathroom (not that kind of bathroom within a bedroom as at other Village hotels). I appreciated shampoo and body wash toiletries included ( no conditioner). Didn’t use the swimming pool but it looked so good! 3 jacuzzis!!! Also staff was very friendly and helpful! Restaurant on site isn’t cheap but pretty comparable with pub food prices nowadays. Pub classics we had like gammon and fish&chips were tasty!

Our second year staying here for The Long Road festival which is a 20min drive away. Great facilities. Clean and comfortable. Was also perfectly adequate for a Scottish football team who were staying at the hotel the night we were there as they were playing Coventry City that weekend. If its good enough for them it's good enough for anyone. Great value for money too.
