We had a very warm welcome from the receptionist which started off a quick 1 night stay for early onward travel the next day. The hotel itself was very nice, comfortable and clean with fantastic staff. I can be quite picky when it comes to cleanliness so I am pleased that there were no issues at all to report here. It's a fairly basic hotel in the centre of Dundee, has everything you need for a short stay and with breakfast included, it's pretty good value for money. However as a personal note, the breakfast isn't the greatest.

The quality of food at Longforgan is the best, all freshly cooked and well presented. Our dog was allowed to join us in the lounge bar which made our stay a lot easier.

This was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had.

Dundee has been transformed with the arrival of the RRS Discovery and the V&A, much like the Guggenheim effect in Bilbao. The station has been rebuilt and offers direct access to the Discovery and V&A. The Macmanus museum is also worth the trip and we greatly enjoyed the Verdant Jute Mill museum where we shown the various machines in action. There is also a significant music scene in Dundee and we came across a really good band playing Steely Dan covers. Defintely wish we could have stayed longer and done a bit more research before our trip.

Major visitor attractions are closely located and also near to the railway station.
The city is dirty, run-down and has a slum-like quality. Never seen so much chewing gum on pavements or litter in streets.

Dundee has invested heavily in new hotels and in transforming the banks of the Tay. The V and A is a stunning building with child friendly activities and interesting displays, especially the tapestry exhibition with the story of Dundee. There is a wonderful view over the Tay railway Bridge from the V and A. The McManus Art Gallery and Museum in its beautiful Gothic Revival building in the city centre is also worth visiting with perhaps the best collection of Victorian Scottish paintings in the UK. The information on the painters is fascinating, especially the story of the first professionally trained Scottish woman artist, Katherine Read, who came from Dundee.
Discovery Point is a great family outing with fascinating videos about polar exploration and interesting artefacts from Captain Scott's expeditions. The ship Discovery is a wonderful time capsule.
Dundee has good public transport links with other Scottish cities with Glasgow less than 2 hours away by coach or train. By local bus it is a short ride to Broughty Ferry with its castle museum, interesting old pubs and historic houses.
Finally there is a small but interesting transport museum with friendly staff who gave us free cups of tea on a cold afternoon!

As a solo female traveller I was placed on a ground floor, in an interconnecting room for 2 nights at the very back of hotel.....Seems to be no policy on solo female guests !
Whilst the room was very clean and the bed linnen was good quality...the room felt old and tired! Gouges out of walls, chips in bath tub, two badly repaired, one recent......very unappealing to use. Grouting around bathtub bad.
Tea/ cofee offerings were decent quality and complimentary biscuits provided each day.
Decent size TV, but found the room really cold even with radiator at high. Also random loud noise of fan or generator room 138.
Please note if you are travelling for business there is an extra 10 min diversion via back road between 7.30pm and 7.30am - appreciate its not the hotels fault.
Did not try leisure, bar or restaurant offerings so cant comment on these.
I would have relayed my comments to staff but there was never anyone on reception except on my arrival.
Overall disappointing! And would not return

Used the Invercarse Hotel in Dundee as a stop-off point on my way north and was really impressed. The lady on the front desk was so kind and welcoming – just what you need after a long drive.
The room was great – really spacious, clean, and modern. Everything felt fresh and well looked after. Honestly, for the price I paid, it was fantastic value.
Would happily stay again if I’m ever passing through Dundee. A really pleasant surprise!
Everything was first-class the hotel was an old established landmark in Dundee but when you entered the front door you arrived in a modern up to date Hotel, On opening the curtains on the first morning we were presented with an historical view of Ms Discovery the great Antarctic explorer.
Beautiful property and amazing staff enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back! Could do with a few cobwebs gotten rid of but it’s an amazing experience! Food drink and staff brilliant! Local to Dundee so you can get a cab into town for drinks or just stay in hotel at the bar
This is a cheap hotel(maybe the cheapest in Dundee). The staff were excellent and made sure my pregnant wife was comfortable providing extra pillows etc.
