Location is outstanding! Ask for a Princes Street facing room and then you have a view of the old city skyline (The Royal Mile) and the Edinburgh Castle. The staff was very kind and was a massive emotional support after I was pickpocketed on Princes St on way from the Waverly station to the hotel. Sree at the reception was fantastic as she patiently explained to us how tonget around the city and all the good places to eat and drink!

Our room was absolutely stunning!! looked even bigger in real life than in the hotel site pictures. We requested a wish to get a certain room beforehand with a beautiful decoration and it was granted, we were so happy 🥰 The staff was also very kind, although we did not interact with them a lot since we had the deluxe room in another building.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

I felt like I barely touched the surface of Edinburgh in my three days here! The city is easy to walk through, and had an excellent tourism infrastructure. It is beautiful because it has all these old buildings but is surrounded by nature and there are lots of parks! I liked waking up Calton hill, which has an excellent view of the city and lovely purple thistles growing on top. There were a lot of free excellent museums and I didn't even get around to visiting them all, including an art gallery with impressionist paintings (The National Gallery). The Royal Mile is where most tourists go, but it is kind of funny because there are a million souviner shops lining the road! If you want to buy something plaid, or a hairy coo stuffie, there is where to go! Mary's Milk Bar makes really good gelato and there is always a super long line up. One of my favorite places to find a gifts to bring back to your family is a shop on candle maker way that sells lovely things designed by local artists! I bought a tea towel with a cute map of Scotland on it there. I could have spent a few more days there, I should go back. Also, I bought a SIM card at the O2 store in the mall.

The city is a bustling one, lots of people everywhere in the summer months, and driving can be tricky. But the city has a lot to offer, more than one castle within the city, and while Edinburgh Castle is great, it is commercialized and very very crowded. Craigmillar Castle gives you a more authentic experience and is far less crowded. The Royal Mile was worth seeing, and both the Scotch Whisky Experience, and The Real Mary King's Close are definitely worth checking out, just be prepared for lots of people everywhere.

The hotel is located in a quiet area but with plenty of pubs and restaurants. It is conveniently near a station on Edinburgh's wonderful cross city tram line. Access from the airport and into the city centre was cheap and easy. Leith has a lot of attractions for visitors like Edinburgh. I liked the option to not have the room serviced every day of our stay - in exchange for free drinks at the bar as an acknowledgement! The hotel wifi was fast and free. The hotel is housed in an interesting historic building.

Beautiful family-run boutique hotel above The Canny Man Pub. Very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Super friendly staff. Breakfast at the pub was amazing, loved the selection of hot breakfast choices and continental buffet breakfast. The baguette and croissants were the best I ever had! Quiet location in Morningside with easy access by bus to Edinburgh city centre and beyond. The immediate neighbourhood offers a lot of little shops and restaurants. Highly recommend a stay at The Lane Hotel!

We booked this hotel because it was cheap and relatively close to Edinburgh city centre. The hotel was lovely and cosy. My fiancéé and I don't have any shame towards/with each other, so having the shower and toilet pretty much in the bedroom was not an issue for us at all. As regards cleanliness, staff, facilities - all fantastic!
