Great hotel that was extremely quiet even though full and it suited all our needs. It was a 12 minute walk to Princess street from the hotel which was no problem for us but there were bus stops all along the route if needed. We did take a taxi to the train station however as it is very busy on Princess Street and making your way through the crowds with a suitcase is no fun (fixed price of £11) which reception kindly ordered for us.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

The city of Edinburgh is an amazing place to visit.

The city of Edinburgh is an amazing place to visit. The character of the buildings and city layout adds so much to its charm. Visiting Old Town and New Town was so enjoyable and there is so much to see and do...Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Mary King's Close, Princes Street Garden, Arthur's Seat to name a few. The Royal Mile (Old Town) is an area one could easily spend an entire day enjoying. Public transportation is handy but walking is the best way to move around in order to get a vibe of the city and not miss an opportunity to hear bagpipers and see the variety of street performers. Edinburgh is a must visit if you haven't been!!

Edinburgh is hands down my favourite city!

Edinburgh is hands down my favourite city! It has this unique mix of old and new – centuries-old buildings, cozy pubs, and cobblestone streets right next to modern cafés, cool shops, and street performers. The city feels urban and alive, but still relaxed and super friendly – like a small big city, if that makes sense! You’ll find students, tourists, locals, young people, older people, it’s a total melting pot and somehow it just works. The food scene is amazing, for me as a vegan especially. From streetfood to luxurious, you’ll find something delicious on every corner. And just outside the city, you’re quickly in the middle of stunning nature: the Highlands, the sea, hills, lochs, castles… it's all right there. There’s always something going on, but you can also just enjoy the sound of seagulls and a sunset over the rooftops. It’s romantic, full of history, and buzzing with life – can’t wait to come back!

Edinburgh is a walking city but there is great transport...

Edinburgh is a walking city but there is great transport over the city if walking isn’t your thing. Loved the walk to Leith along the Leith walk. Don’t miss the Union Canal walk even just a small part. Never enough time to totally explore the city always finding new places and areas l haven’t been before. Only thing that’s disappointing is the prices of accommodation far to high.

Edinburgh is a very walkable and interesting city. The restaurants, cafes, pubs, etc are numerous and varied. There are a lot of shops, museums, parks, walks, historical sites to keep a person busy for days, if not weeks. People in Edinburgh are super friendly and helpful.

Beautiful property. Clean & comfortable & spacious. Beds & pillows better than any hotel I've ever stayed in. Host replied within minutes of messaging. Very helpful & informative. Not far from city centre. Bus stop outside No.34 & No.35 takes you into city centre (10mins) We also downloaded City Cabs app for taxi to airport £32 Bar/restaurant 2min walk & local shop which sells everything. A great base for a 2 day stay visiting Edinburgh City.

We have stayed here 3 times now as it's a nice quiet hotel away from the hustle of the city centre & only 10 mins in a taxi & ideal for visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo. The Staff are very friendly & helpful. There's a great selection of items for every palate for breakfast. We will stay here again next year also. Recommended.

The room was a great size, the bed was comfy and the room and the bathroom were clean. It was a great location to Edinburgh city centre and I was able to walk there easily. It was warm. The hotel provided off street parking for my hire car, which was great, even though apparently I parked it in the wrong spot!
