I loved the story behind the hotel, and how everything inside had a journey around sustainability - I wish more hotels made more of an effort with this. I didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t share my experience around that sadly, but the area looked nice

Set around the Exe River, affluent Exeter has played a part in English history from the Roman era to William the Conqueror to the Spanish Armada. Its most impressive structure is the cathedral, begun in the 11th century and boasting the longest stone roof in England.
The surrounding green is a popular picnic spot, and the half-timbered buildings and red-brick façades of the neighbouring High Street house a host of shops. Even more are in the Princesshay and Guildhall shopping centres.
The Guildhall itself is considered England’s oldest municipal building still in use, while nearby Parliament Street is one of the world’s narrowest streets. The remains of 11th-century St Nicholas Priory are now a museum, and there are more red-stone ruins at hilltop Exeter Castle (or Rougemont Castle), built into the Roman walls.
Exeter Central Station is behind the castle, while St Davids Station is nearer the university. The large student population means that the city has good nightlife, and some bars are located by the Quayside, site of Custom House. The river flows past Topsham and Powderham Castle to enter the sea at Exmouth.
To the east are Exeter Airport and the Westpoint Arena exhibition centre, both easily reached from Booking.com’s hotels with spas, cheap apartments and guest houses with parking.

I know Exeter well, it has changed a lot over the years and not all for the better but the Quay area is lovely in the summer and the cathedral is beautiful. Access to other parts of Devon by car or train is easy. Parking in the city is expensive and a pain and traffic can be really congested in and out of the city.

Exeter is the home of very friendly and helpful people. Historically interesting. Offering many exciting gastronomical treats and cuisines. I loved the Lebanese restaurant and the Rock Fish seafood restaurant. It's very scenic and full of fun experiences to cater for differing tastes and affordability. A fabulous evening at Becketts champagne/cocktail rooftop bar.

Great if you are watching a Chiefs match as right next to the stadium & you can park there too. Adds to the joy of a match day to then be able to have a very short walk back to the hotel, have a meal & a few drinks, relax stay the night & have no worries.

People were more than friendly and were willing to help and the little villages were quite quaint with some memorable eating establishments. We had a great dinner at a fair price at the Phoenix in Chudleigh.

Exeter is a bustling city with many attractions around the quays but we spent most of our time in Topsham which is in walking distance of the CBD but still retains a village feel. Exmouth was a lovely seaside with a walk at the tail end of the Jurassic Coastline, providing spectacular views and we were able to explore hidden gems such as Widdicombe (a quaint market town with a fabulous 14th century pub and even older church) and the Moors. Quite spectacular and a must see on a visit to Devon. Be prepared for very narrow country lanes.

Not much option in breakfast. Not worth the amount paid.
Not much option in breakfast. Not worth the amount paid. No waters in the room. Was told that water dispenser is on every floor and we have to get it on our own but it wasnt working. Had to go to the restaurant to get the water. No parking available. Had to pay £10.00 every time you park. Definitely not worth the amount charged.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The pastries at breakfast were delicious. The hotel is in a great location for walking to the city centre. Exeter is quite hilly but it’s all on the flat from the hotel to the shops, cathedral, and museum/art gallery. Although the hotel doesn’t have its own parking, there is a reasonably priced car park in the square in front of the hotel.
Reasonably priced room and friendly staff. It is no frills but guests need to realise they are staying in a pub, not a 5 star hotel. Overnight accommodation in Exeter is pricey. Overall happy and would return.
