I had a wonderful stay at the Dakota hotel in Glasgow. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable and clean, and the restaurant was excellent. Everything was very well organized, including the early morning transfer to the airport. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were absolutely exceptional, gave us great recommendations, helped out when we had forgotten items and were just overall really friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, the room was really spacious and the bed particularly comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious too. I thought it was a great location, we were able to walk everywhere we needed, and it was really central for what we wanted. Incredible price as well! I think we were there for the first night that they opened, so wish them all the best, as they have done a fantastic job.

Glasgow FAQ: Tips for every trip

Fun-Loving and Forward Thinking

Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow combines Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. A former European City of Culture, it is home to many national organisations including the Scottish Ballet and the National Theatre of Scotland. The museums are also world class. Not to be missed are the futuristic-looking Glasgow Science Centre and the eclectic exhibits at the Kelvingrove.

Lined with Georgian buildings, George Square is the city’s focal point and the spot for Glasgow Hogmanay celebrations. Fanning out from here are streets housing venues for the city’s main love: music. From classical concerts to up-and-coming bands, every taste is catered for.

As host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Glasgow is also a city of sport. Scotland’s 2 most iconic football clubs - Celtic and Rangers - are based here, as is the national football stadium Hampden Park. The Scottish Football Museum is also an excellent walk through the beautiful game.

Last but not least is the shopping in Glasgow. Shopping centres cover everything from high street brands to international designers. So when you fly into Glasgow Airport, make sure you’ve left enough space in your bags!

Glasgow is one of the UK's finest big cities.

Glasgow is one of the UK's finest big cities. The city centre is very walkable (but hilly) with many wonderful 19th century buildings in distinctive Scottish styles. It's an excellent centre for exploring the Clyde valley, Argyll, and the West Highlands. Within the city, the Clyde waterside, the Kelvingrove art gallery, and the Kelvin Walkway shouldn't be missed.

I personally love Glasgow and have been traveling there since 2018. This was my 5th trip to Glasgow as a senior citizen and I think the city is very nice with plenty to see and do. I love the "Clockwork Orange" Subway, Kelvingrove Gallery, the buskers on Buchannan, the many choices of very good restaurants and the friendly people. Glasgow is well located so you can take side trips to enjoy even more of Scotland without moving luggage from place to place

People of Glasgow were very friendly and helpful.

People of Glasgow were very friendly and helpful. I was very disappointed with the overall appearance of the centre and surrounding areas. It wasn’t very clean. Shop frontages were very poorly presented. It could do with a good tidy up and some money for improvements. There wasn’t a lot of things to do either.

We had a great stay in Glasgow. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and provided everything we needed for an enjoyable visit. One of the best aspects was the location — it was easily accessible to the main attractions and right in the heart of the city centre, making it very convenient to get around and explore. Overall, a really pleasant stay and we would happily return!

Breakfast was cooked to order which I liked and was very good. I liked the slices of fresh melon. The room was very spacious and very clean and had everything I would expect of a hotel in Glasgow. It was ideally located in the city centre but was very quiet. My room was ready when I arrived at 12.30 so that was handy.
