Beautiful Cathedral and interesting Museum.
Beautiful Cathedral and interesting Museum. Good ghost and old prison tours. The town centre is a little tired and there is a shortage of good shopping, however, there’s a fantastic Marina/Docks which more than makes up for this offering a comprehensive range of shops and quality restaurants. Makes for an interesting long weekend.

Nice city with some sightseeing, Gloucester Quays is worth a visit as is the Cathedral , the food outlets on the quays are plentiful, we had a lovely meal at the Anatolian palace, easy walking around the city, it’s also a good place to use as a base to visit surrounding towns.

A very interesting city with good and bad parts.
A very interesting city with good and bad parts. There are plenty of shops with a good mix of local and national outlets.
The Cathedral is well worth a visit and St Mary's church is a little gem.
The Quay's area is full of restaurants and is the place to go for food.

Gloucester has been an important centre for at least 1500...
Gloucester has been an important centre for at least 1500 years and it was interesting to search out features that have survived from earlier ages and to see the extent to which the original Roman layout can still be seen in the centre of the city. The Cathedral is magnificent. We enjoyed lunch in the Fountain Inn on Westgate. The re-development of the docks has been done very well to provide modern accommodation and hospitality facilities.

The town is not particularly salubrious on the east edge...
The town is not particularly salubrious on the east edge where the Central Hotel is located. We arrived to find eight police cars and vans attending an altercation of some sort. The town gets better the closer you get to the river, especially the renovated docks are. That's where a lot of the good food is (Brewhouse & Kitchen, Dr Foster's).

Bowden Hall is an iconic hotel in Gloucester where we have stayed several times. The receptionist Sol knew that we were there to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary and went well out of her way to make our stay special. Our room was upgraded to a privilege room and was gorgeous. The breakfast was an extremely high standard. We’ll definitely be returning.

The Edward Hotel is in a really good location for the centre of Gloucester. Just far enough out to miss the normal town noise of an evening. The hotel itself does need a bit of TLC and the actual layout is a bit of a rabbit Warren. If passing through again I would definitely book again if no other local hotels are available

Great location in the heart of Gloucester city centre. Hotel is quirky and the spaces that they’ve done up are beautiful. We opted for an old room as it was a lower floor, it was still great. Microwave and fridge as well as a kettle. Highly recommended

cheap hotel, but much better than previous ones we've stay at in Gloucester when up for the Rugby.
Decent location, and not too expensive car park a few mins walk.
All in all very happy, and will be our hotel choice for future trips when visiting
