The Glory of Medieval England
Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.
Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.
This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.
Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.

Very good. Worth the visit which was our first.
Very good. Worth the visit which was our first. We were there for about 6 hours including food and drink and started with the Cathedral and Castle, right up on top of a high hill so parked nearer to those to avoid the longer steep walk up from the Town Centre first. Both are lovely sights where you can spend some time in the area. Then we walked down to the long High Street for a look around some of the shops. We ate at Panda Mami. Great Chinese based buffet with many other international dishes available to choose from as well.

Iian and Anna were so welcoming; they prepared a wonderful breakfast: homemade jams and cookies. The place exudes warmth. The old-fashioned room was so quaint; a throwback to the past. Every decorative item brought a smile. Enjoyed the genuinely welcoming hosts - felt like visiting favorite relatives.

The location was perfect.
The location was perfect. However, the hotel was misrepresented. We thought we had booked a 4 star hotel whereas in reality it only justified 2 stars, perhaps only 1 star! Our room was on the second floor and the hotel did not have a lift. The first room we were offered had a torn dirty carpet so we insisted on moving. The second room was a little better.
Breakfast was included in the price but was 'continental'. In reality it was cerial and toast. No cheese or cold meats. The receptionist went off-duty at 9pm and locked up the hotel so there was no staff on duty over night. We were given a door code to get back in.

Lincoln was a delightful city with plenty of points of interest and it’s easily walkable. There are some lovely independent shops and eateries. The cathedral is simply magnificent and well worth the entrance fee. It is good that guided tours of the cathedral are included in the price, however we didn’t opt for a tour due to time constraints. The coffee shop and gift shop in the cathedral are great too.
We wanted to visit the castle and walls, but thought that the entry fee was a little pricey. Not sure if there is a ticket which includes a visit to both the castle and cathedral at a slightly reduced rate, but thought it would be a good idea.
We met some lovely local people and both commented on their friendliness.
We also went to a wonderful fruit and veg shop near the Tower Hotel. The produce was lovely and would certainly pay it another visit when next in Lincoln.

Lovely city.
Lovely city. Historic charm, lovely cathedral and castle, plenty of places to eat and drink. People very friendly - shout out to the Blue Monkey and the Tiny Tavern which both had very welcoming atmosphere and friendly locals. Steep Hill was challenging, with interesting buildings.
We were lucky to be on the top of the medieval walls of the castle when the Red Arrows were doing manoeuvres so were treated to 25 minutes of watching them in the surrounding skies. Also saw one Typhoon take off and 4 land at RAF Waddingham as we made our way out of Lincoln to head home, which was an added bonus.

This property was ideally located for our visit to Lincoln, it’s not our first time staying here so we were well aware of the facilities that it offered
Its big advantage apart from its location is that it has a very affordable public car park adjacent to it (£10.40), for 24 hours.
We enjoyed a few drinks in the hotel bar which is lovely and quiet to relax in after a busy day sightseeing
The staff were very friendly and helpful and as we arrived early they allowed us to check in as our room was ready.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Damon's Hotel, Lincoln
Had a fantastic stay at Damon's Hotel. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with a lovely stand-alone roll-top bath that added a real touch of luxury. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and everything was well presented and maintained.
Great location, comfortable night's sleep, and a relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely stay again when visiting Lincoln. Highly recommended.

Great hotel with views of Lincoln Castle and a short walk to the Cathedral, shops, restaurants and Steep Hill. The breakfast was excellent, good options cooked or cold, would have liked more fruit options.
It was during a heatwave & the cleaner put on the fan after we went out so we came back to a cooler room. Lovely restaurant & beer garden, our evening meal was delicious and served by super friendly staff.

Unique and quirky boutique hotel. Just our sort of place. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and made our stay a real treat. Ideally placed to walk around Lincoln and its various attractions. Lots to see and do too.

Quirky little dog-friendly hotel in the centre of Lincoln, right by the hotel. Lovely staff. Fantastic home cooked breakfast and they even cook sausages for the dogs!
