Nicely decorated for Christmas. Clean and spacious rooms. Very relaxing stay. We usually stay at the Sleive Donard but since it’s been bought over the decor is over the top and no space in the rooms.

Spacious and so clean. There was fresh milk, bread and cookies there for us as well as cereals for breakfast which was fabulous. We also really enjoyed the board games that were there for our use.

Guide book suggested a run down feel, it was not at all like that. Felt clean and well cared for with a vibrant mood. Gorgeous planting along promenade. Lots of places to eat. Good free parking. AND probably most importantly, great ice cream!! Obviously the sea views and fabulous mountains are better than ice cream....

Car parking is convenient, safe and free all around the town. The setting of the town is perfect( where the mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea) which leaves the long main street extremely level to walk on as it curves around the bay. There are numerous coffee shops, cafes and restaurants suitable for all tastes. It has the old fashioned vibe of a seaside town from the 60's/70's, in a faded, genteel sort of way. We ate in Great Jones on Friday and all 7 of us were pleased with our choices. Service was friendly and efficient.

Busy seaside town. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs. It gets very busy at weekends in the Summer. Access for walking in the Mournes is excellent. Be aware that Booking.com use the wrong photograph for Newcastle. The photo with the bridges is Newcastle in England, not Newcastle in Northern Ireland. Would also recommend visiting Castlewellan Forest Park, lake is lovely. Lots of watersports. Need to mention particularly Villa Vinci for good food, reasonably priced and very friendly staff.

Firstly we got a great place to stay in maggiesleap townhouse, location was terrific, comfy and spotless clean, about 50 meters from the donard bar,but the weather was magnificent,I wouldn't think of going foreign if we had that sunshine. We spent a day in Mount panther farm, which is well worth a visit, about £37 for a family of four, plenty to see for the kids, castlwellan park is always a good place to visit, park your car for a £5 and a way you go.After that wee were on the beach most of the time in Newcastle.Just park your can at maggies and walk around.sunday lunch in ohares was lovely.

The walk along the promenade is just beautiful and the tide going in and out makes watching all going on at the large beach very interesting. Then the variety of shops on the Main Street with all the coffee shops and restaurants there giving a great choice. The putting green and little boating area is also good. There is of course the lovely Mourne mountains to manoeuvre and outdoor swimming pool. A great place to visit really

Nice comfortable room and bed. It was nice having the kitchen available to us to prepare our breakfast. You need to pay a £75 refundable deposit in case of any damage. Double glazing reduces any noise from the main road. The Burrendale hotel and spa is a lovely option for evening dinner and entertainment. The staff at the visitor centre in Newcastle are very helpful with local walks in the Mourne Mountains and the drive to Warrenpoint along the coast is beautiful.

Location - the house is a short walk from the town centre, promenade and beach. Also a short drive from Tollymore Forest Park and Murlough National Park. Newcastle is a great base for exploring County Down and the Mourn Mountains, but it is also a very nice location in its own right. The house is comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher etc.
