Our stay here was fantastic. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and had a gorgeous view right from the bed of both the mountains and ocean. Check-in and out were both smooth and the location of the BNB is excellent!

The main town was very busy as it was a bank holiday.

The main town was very busy as it was a bank holiday. Its a very old school type seaside resort with amusement arcades etc. The western part of the town was nicer with good pubs serving a good range of food.

The town has more wonderful shops, pubs and eateries that you can image and of an extremely high standard to boot. The beach is a truly wonderful place to be and you can just be yourself. The main raison d'etre for this trip was going to the Mourne Mountains to climb to the top of Slieve Donard (see pictures attached) and was so pumped that I climbed here with its glorious panoramic view of Newcastle above. One thing that will always leave a lasting impression was the truly friendly and welcoming nature of the local people. In the shops, pubs and eateries, the level of attentiveness was nothing like I have ever experienced. In short, everyone in this town went above and beyond. Everyone here was your friend and this is something I will never forget. I am actually part of a walking group within my place of work where only 4 people (including me) came despite a fair amount of interest. All can say to those who didn't come and for those of are thinking of coming, don't think about. Just do it. I will make it quest to come back to this beautiful, tranquil and extremely friendly coastal town, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Newcastle, Co. Dow, N. Ireland, (not photo shown). Good seaside town, best beaches further out of town at Murlough and Tyrella, good town amenities and amusements. Try the maze and lake walk at Castlewellan forest park, hike into the Mourne mountains, explore Tollymore forest park. Eat at the excellent Brunel restaurant. We had a fun staycation.

A very nice hotel, very impressive from the outside.

A very nice hotel, very impressive from the outside. The decor is tastefully decorated. Staff friendly and welcoming. A lovely town, near by and within walking distance. The food in both restaurants was very nice. A room set aside to play pool, board games. Price is a bit expensive, especially when converting sterling to euro.

Newcastle is a typical seaside town, with plenty of facilities, but unfortunately a few years ago it lost it's beautiful sandy beach. Plenty of places to eat, not just fish and chip shops, and a few pubs. Beware of Quinn's on a Saturday night if you don't like loud music. Easy to walk about, though not easy to drive through.

It is a small town but a great point for visiting the Mourne mountains and beaches. Some individual gift and clothes boutiques. Good choice of restaurants and cafes. We also drove to Banbridge for the cinema at the outlet stores I go for the peace and quiet in September as not so many holiday makers then.

A small basic hotel with limited facilities but the good food both at breakfast and in the restaurant, and the very friendly and welcoming staff made for a very enjoyable stay. The room was small but clean with a decent shower, and although it didn't have a full sea view, we could get a glimpse of St John' Point lighthouse. Conveniently located just a short walk from the Newcastle promenade, I would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a short break.

Location could not have been any more perfect for us. We stayed specifically for the New Years Fireworks at the Slieve Donard Hotel, which was within a 10-minute walk. The house itself is well equipped; from kitchen appliances including a few grocery items, to a flat screen tv with the option of dvds to enjoy. The cosiness of the house made us feel instantly at home as soon as we walked through the door. Thank you for having us Helena, we will definitely be back! 🙂

Firstly I would like to thank the staff. From arrival to departure everyone was friendly & professional. Beautiful hotel and superb location. Extremely clean and comfortable, fantastic value for money. The buffet style complimentary breakfast was amazing, plenty of delicious breads ,cereals , fruits and drinks . Will definitely be back.
