Just 2 minutes' walk from Nottingham city center and 164 feet from Nottingham Castle, St James Hotel; BW Premier Collection is 10 minutes' walk from the train station and 15 minutes' drive to M1...

I've been a regular for years, sometimes months at a time. The location, and funkiness of venue was my original draw.

Bed was very comfortable, I liked the fact it was in the centre of town and lots of shops were around the area. There was a bar downstairs which served drinks in the evening and breakfast had a decent range of options

Lovely building, really nice comfortable rooms and beds. Stayed here before so we know what expect. Breakfast has definitely changed since we since we last came a year or so ago. Was more like a holiday inn breakfast rather than a hilton breakfast.

FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is southwest of Long Eaton.

Nottingham is a city full of character and fascinating history. We visited the Nottingham Castle, which offers a fantastic blend of historical depth and modern exhibitions, all set against the backdrop of beautiful views over the city. We also really enjoyed the Museum of Curiosities – a quirky and unique spot filled with unusual and thought-provoking items. It's a hidden gem for those who enjoy the weird. The main highlight was Warhammer World. For fans of the Warhammer universe, it’s an absolute must-visit. The exhibition halls were incredibly immersive, the themed displays were stunning. We even played a battle on one of the best tables I played so far. Whether Overall, Nottingham surprised us with its mix of history, creativity, and niche attractions. It's a great destination for both casual tourists and enthusiasts looking for something a bit different.

The tram system is a big plus.

The tram system is a big plus. For £5.50 (£4.00 concession) you can buy a day ticket. This gives access to all parts of the city and several interesting towns and villages on the outskirts. There are numerous restaurants and cafes with cuisine from all over the world together with plenty of nightlife.

We lived in Nottingham for 10 years.

We lived in Nottingham for 10 years. It’s a great city, easy to get around plus trams for further afield. Rock City is a great gig venue plus several theatres so lots of events. Independent shops plus the usual suspects. Wollaton Park and the arboretum for green space plus the castle grounds.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now over the past few months due to my son starting at the University of Nottingham, and I have been consistently impressed. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well equipped, there is plenty of parking, breakfast is good, and the staff are friendly and efficient. The location is ideal for the university but is still close to the city centre.
