The room key fob made access to the property and the room very easy, without having to carry keys around.

Used Carter often in just under a year, this is the first time my partner and I had a bad night sleep. In room 6 there is a green light just above the bed, which prevents us from sleeping. Someone has tried to cover it with plastering tape and it's not thick enough to stop the light shining through

An important harbour for centuries, Portsmouth counts with one of the busiest ferry piers in the United Kingdom, has the oldest dry dock still in use in the world. Its Historic Dockyard is home to famous British ships like Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior.
In the picturesque Old Town you’ll find typical English pubs, coloured houses, and small independent shops. It also has a Fish Market provided by the city’s small fishing fleet. In Old Portsmouth is possible to find smaller hotels, B&B’s and guest houses, some of them not far from the ferry harbour.
The Gunwharf Quays are a modernly renovated shopping area, home to the Spinnaker Tower, while the centre has an ever-growing number of shops. Don’t miss Commercial Road and the Cascades Shopping Centre. Hotels in Portsmouth’s city centre allow you to be close to everything what the city has to offer.
For relaxing moments, Portsdown Hill allows panoramic views over the city and the Isle of Wight. During summer, its sandy beaches are a must.

So many lovely parks, lots of well maintained public seating, excellent bus service. We did not have time for all things naval, but the Portsmouth City Museum was well worth a visit - with a coffee shop by the garden. Lovely.

I went to Portsmouth for one purpose, which was to see The Mary Rose. I parked in the Historic Dockyard park, which cost £5 for 4 hours. The Mary Rose exhibition was excellent, allowing appreciation of life on board. Sadly, many lives were lost when this new flagship went down just offshore. The display also concentrated on the salvage work.
I had my meal in The Ship and Castle, opposite the dockyard entrance.

A good place to visit if you enjoy maritime history.
A good place to visit if you enjoy maritime history. The harbour tours are well worth the trip and allows you to see numerous Royal Navy ships in port. Also, a visit to the historic docks is a must.

We had a few nights to spend at the end of our trip before flying home from Gatwick Airport. Instead of going into London this time, we took the direct 1.5 hour train to and from Portsmouth. There was more to do there than two days allowed, with the excellent D-Day Museum and the Historic Dockyard taking up much of our two days. At the dockyards, we only had time to tour the ship HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum and both were world class. Next time we will take in more of the sights at the dockyard. The city was a delight to walk around and the Southsea area, where we stayed, was nice to stroll, especially the castle, beach and promenade.

We visit Portsmouth regularly as we have family here. We still have not seen everything and love our visits here. We never tire of walking along the sea front and watching ships come in. Especially enjoy Old Portsmouth. There are great museums. The Mary Rose exhibition is a favorite.

The Maritime is well located in Portsmouth and gives easy walking distance to the Gunwharf quays and their shopping and dining facilities
The hotel has been well refurbished and the staffing were all very helpful
We stayed over to attend the Goodwood Revival which was in easy driving distance. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Goodwood or this region
We will be taking the same next year.
Such an easy check in with the key box. The location is fantastic with street parking and the train station behind the property, making it easy to get to Portsmouth harbour, city centre or London in a hour if needed!
Comfortable beds, clean house and fabulous kitchen making it possible to cook your own food if you didn’t want to eat out.
Will be staying again!
Good location, easy to get to and plenty of disabled parking. Room was spacious and comfortable with walk-in shower. All staff were excellent. We stayed in three Marriott hotels on this trip and Portsmouth was by far the best.
very convenient location, used the local park and ride to get into city centre where it was just a short walk to Portsmouth harbour, railway station and boutique shops
Dog-friendly. The room, especially the bathroom, was small but very clean. The staff did a great job, and the hotel is centrally located in Portsmouth town centre.
