Mandy and her staff were exceptionally accommodating and very friendly. The location was beautifully quaint and we were able to sightsee the local seaside villages and towns very easily. I have food restrictions and Mandy was so gracious to offer alternative options for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again! Lovely people and lovely country!

Beautifully furnished room. Staff were so helpful. Lovely Continental breakfast. Situated on a great bus route so no car needed.
This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town center.

What a fabulous hotel - very clean and quiet and with staff who were all extremely friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely top floor room (deluxe double room 22), which was perfect for our needs. Dinner was really good and we loved the traditional way that we had full waitress service and that the side dishes we ordered were served in trays for us to serve ourselves from, just as it was in times past. By no means an old-fashioned hotel, this was just a lovely traditional style venue that we would 100% recommend and visit again.

The breakfast was amazing and the staff were very friendly!
The area was very pretty and easy to get to. The views are stunning from the cliff tops. Our accommodation was in a great location, very quiet and peaceful. Very steep hill to the beach, not for the feint hearted. There is a Pay & Display carpark at the bottom, but it takes only cash, unless you download an app. There is a Co-op in the next village and a number of places to eat. Locals were very friendly and informative. The walk along the Cleveland Way was was easily accessible. Great for dog owners. Never managed to walk on the beach as when high tide it was difficult to clamber over the boulders at the entrance to it, it is possible but care needs to be taken. In April high tide was in the afternoon. Plenty of people did manage it but be aware that it is rocky and pebbly. Important to know the times of the tides.

Stayed 3 nights at Salt & Seaweed, a 3 bedroom cabin.
Stayed 3 nights at Salt & Seaweed, a 3 bedroom cabin. It was very secure due to it being in a gated complex. There were 3 areas to sit outside, so followed the sun! It was very peaceful and quiet. The cabin was spacious and had everything we needed. We ate at the Firs restaurant one evening, a short walk away. The food was excellent and well priced. We walked the coastal route to Staithes, a few challenging areas with steep steps, but my 75yr old parents survived it! I would recommend Salt & Seaweed.

Runswick is perfect if you want a beach holiday and a walking holiday as the Cleveland Way passes through it; one way to Staithes and the other way to Whitby. There are no shops but Hinderwell is very near and has the odd shop or Staithes is about 7 mins in the car and that has a Co-op on the outskirts as you approach it on the main road plus some niche shops in the actual town centre.

breakfast was brilliant, plenty of choices.
accessability needs working on, entrances and exit doorways didnt have enough turning room for mobility scooter. We had room 8 with a wetroom but it wasn't big enough. obscured windows and tatty curtains that i had to stand on the sofa to draw. all in all the room was just not big enough.

First visit to this particular beauty spot and it did not disappoint! Local bus service was exceptional meaning that we could use our bus passes to get to Whitby and surrounding areas without the hassle of finding a parking space. Runswick Hotel served superb meals with a friendly smile 😊this was a stones throw from our holiday home. The owners of this quaint home provided everything you could want….provisions were plenty, tea coffee milk etc….also the added touch of freshly cut flowers brightened our welcome to this lovely property.
Great location for spending time in Runswick and the surrounding areas. Great for local walks and the pub behind serves delicious food and had great, friendly staff. The property was extremely clean and well looked after and hosts friendly and helpful. Would recommend it as a place to stay.
Perfect for a romantic stay. Small but beautiful appointed. Staff at the Royal Hotel (next door) were lovely and delivered our evening meals to the door. Location great for beach and to walk the Cleveland Way. Log burner was great during cool evenings. We will be back for sure!
Service is first class, food a masterclass in taste and generous in portion, location is safe and quiet, proximity to Runswick Bay is literally less than 2mins by car and less than 5mins to walk down (perhaps longer heading back up):
