I grew up in Westcliff-on-sea and came to visit old friends plus the cemetary where my parents are laid to rest. I now live in Somerset, so it was good to reminisce with memories and have contact with my old friends. So I know most of the area and although the high street looks a little run down-many other parts and parks are still beautiful and the sea air and sea front are still a wonderful retreat and a good place to visit for a break.

We was an all male party , come down to Southend to see The Feelgood Band at the Plough west cliff.
We visited a few pubs , where we found people to be friendly.
Taxi service was excellent.
We visited the sea front and found it fun , clean and tidy.
Chinnerys and the Cricketers were also excellent watering holes lol

Actually, Leigh-on-Sea, Chalkwell and Westcliffe EXCEEDED our expectations. Good walks, lots of nice cafes.
We kept away from the funfair, amusement arcades and fish and chips area as that was not what we wanted from our stay,

The parking fees are awful the need for a phone capable of downloading apps is essential because everything seems to rely on that no response to calls whatsoever??? The seafront end of Southend is lovely and the buses and trains and staff all very good. The Council certainly doesn’t encourage tourism for families and yet there is so much for them to see and do. Lovely places to eat and drink and everywhere we went staff were especially helpful and friendly. Litter was collected up in the early morning and most places were clean and tidy I expect the parking fees pay for that!

Our room was quiet, warm, comfortable and well supplied with a nice view out over the estuary; we managed to park at the hotel, which was very convenient and all the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. A significant reason for choosing the hotel was it's proximity to places we wanted to visit in Southend and that proved to be ideal both for the seafront and the town.
A little gem of a hotel full of character and attention to detail, both in the bedrooms and communal areas. Excellent full English breakfast in beautiful room with nice views. All the staff were friendly and everything was very clean. Good location, walkable to the seafront and Southend Central station and other attractions.
I only spent one night here but I can say it is one of the best hotels in the Southend area - and I have stayed at most of them!
They had vegan options on the dinner menu and room service, so after a long day at work it was all very easy. Great bathtub, comfy bed etc etc...
Location overlooking seafront, free parking within quarter of a mile max, overnight much closer and hour parking, with luck, during day. Handy for Southend Central and Victoria stations. Friendly staff. Outside terrace great for warm weather. Good breakfast.
