I know Torquay quite well as I once lived there for 3 years and visited many times since with my children but haven't been back for about ten years. I was disappointed that the harbour area and surround has gone the way of many City centres at night. The area was loud with gangs of drunk, swearing revelers, walking around going from the various clubs and pubs many of which blared very loud music into the street. Certainly not a place to take children. This was only early evening- around 7 o clock.

Plenty to see and do.
Plenty to see and do. The Round Robin, bus, steam train and river cruise was a lovely day out. Totnes was a pleasant, quaint town. Lovely walk along the river bank. Torquay has a good bus service up and down the coast. Plenty of places to eat, Italian, pub food, fine dining. It always seems to be sunny when we visit.

Generally Torquay is very nice harbor town and has received some extensive re-generation over the past few years. Unfortunately there is still some work to do as a lot of the retail units close to the harbor are completely empty and current up for lease. I would recommend sticking close to the modernized areas as there are a few rough sleepers in the town area.

Many empty shops, in common with many towns.
Many empty shops, in common with many towns. The harbour, Torre Abbey areas were as good as ever, but it's not the Torquay I knew as a child. Many changes, but not necessarily for the better.
Overall though, I'll definitely go back before too long. Millbrook b&b was excellent, I couldn't fault anything if I tried. A great place to stay, with charming hosts who couldn't have done more for us.
We had an enjoyable evening at Chelston Manor, with a first class meal and welcoming staff. We will certainly visit again.

The purpose of my visit was to attend a conference, and the Riviera Centre was ideal. I enjoyed seeing the town in the evenings, and going to other towns nearby within the Torbay area. Bus and train services were good. The seafront is very attractive, affording lovely views of the beautiful bay, and nice sandy beaches.

Lovely hotel with a friendly atmosphere and high standards. Parking for each room is a real bonus, and Torquay seafront is only a 5 minute walk away. Hosts Gary and Philip are clearly committed to providing the very best and were on hand at all times with a cheery smile. Unusual attention to detail, for example, fresh milk and water for the room available self-service from a fridge in the dining room. Room itself was spacious, stylish and comfortable. Bathroom spotless and newly refurbished. Would definitely stay here again!
Hotel exterior looks awful, room was better, large airy room, but cleanliness of bathroom and dated stained carpet in bedroom was poor. Had to ask for towels and soap !! After a couple of days I even had to ask for the room to be cleaned 🤷🏼♂️ I noticed whilst walking down the steps to car park an old sink and other debris in the bushes. This is meant to be part of the Best Western ‘collection’ ? But, it’s cheap and as you know, you get what you pay for.
The Hotel is managed by Larna who is exceptional and ensures you have a comfortable stay. Larna not only prepares the rooms to a high level of cleanliness but she also provides one of the best breakfast's in Torquay. Best described as a boutique Hotel, we really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely room, fantastic breakfast, great location with parking. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. They have thought of everything- a wonderful small hotel. Definitely stay here if you are in Torquay.
