Although our stay gave the rest we needed, I could happily have stayed a few more days. The pub was in process of being refurbished which I am sure will be lovely but the cottage was so well equipped there was no need to eat out. Lovely walk in Wykeham Woods and we enjoyed walking along the old railway track to Hutton Buscel and to Ruston. Lots to do and only 11 miles from Scarborough and less to Pickering. The older parts of the village are really pretty and there are plenty of quiet country walks. Scarborough is a short drive away, as is Pickering, with many attracticve villages all around. Lovely little village location.
Lovely little village location. Well signposted walk around the area which we all enjoyed. Popped into the gun shop Davey and Sons and the 2 blokes in there were really friendly and helpful. It's so close to so many places! Torn for choice the next day on what to do, could definitely have done a good few days up here :) we ate at the downs hotel pub just down the road from where we stayed - The Old Orchard Cottage - which served locally sourced fish which is always nice to see! Out stay at the old orchard cottage was absolutely perfect, highly recommend checking that place out, the pictures don't even do it justice it's the nicest place!Guest review byNaomiUnited Kingdom

Had evening meal food was good . hot and tasty Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice cooked fresh.
