It is about 20 mins walk to great beaches situated in the newer town. However it is very,very busy and very hot in the height of summer. The fresh seafood and blue sea were the signature words for our Rhodes experience. We visited Rhodes in one of the most hottest week for the last 10 year period ( 48 degree celcius), we stayed at the most Northern part of the island. We visited Lindos ( which is in the middle of the island) and we were nearly fainting because of the heat! The restaurants were not using airconditioners there, fans were blowing the hot air towards us. Therefore my advise is not to visit Lindos on July and August!Guest review bysecilTurkey - 6.0

I love Rhodes and Rhodes Town. I’ve been here several times. The people are incredibly friendly, and the climate, the light, the sounds, and the smells – everything is just fantastic. If I had to mention something less positive, it’s that the island is quite heavily exploited, especially along the beaches. While the water is clear and beautiful, there’s little to no animal or plant life around the shoreline. Rhodes has made real progress when it comes to their economy – you get a receipt for everything now. Another thing they do well is taking care of the stray cats. In the past, you would often see sick and emaciated cats, but nowadays most of them look healthy and well-fed. That’s definitely a positive development! I usually go for a bike ride or two during my stay, and the drivers are respectful, the roads are in good condition, and the mountains are absolutely magical. Just like many other tourist destinations, though, things are quite expensive. A cup with two scoops of ice cream can easily cost £5–6.Guest review byJohanSweden - 10.0

It is a lovely town, has something for everyone, the history of Rhodes was very interesing, The old buildings and castle walls were amazing. Lovely atmosphere everywhere we went. Marina was lovely, and the amount and variety of shops in the town was unexpected. Also, you have access to the pool at the Cactus hotel across the street--a reasonable sized pool with a large area for sunbeds unlike many hotels in Rhodes Town.
