The location is amazing. Later when I asked another reservationist to change my room, after insisting, I got a bright, clean room, with a very small balcony, overlooking the street. The two other hotel reservationists were friendly. .

FAQs about hotels in Thessaloniki

Special Beauty and Culture

Situated in the region of Central Macedonia, Thessaloniki is the 2nd largest city in Greece and a precious cultural centre. Built near the sea, this modern metropolis used to be the crossroads between east and west, and houses some of the most amazing Byzantine and Ottoman monuments.

This lively city is full of large avenues, green squares, stunning Neo-Classical buildings and stylish shops. The White Tower of Thessaloniki is an imposing landmark on the waterfront and is the symbol of the city - a reminder of old times.

Visit sophisticated Thessaloniki, and you will have the chance to meet some of the most important Greek artists and musicians. The city has also an energetic nightlife featuring a number of clubs, bars or 'bouzoukia'.

Famous for the traditional taverns, restaurants and 'ouzeries', the Ladadika neighbourhood is the old Jewish quarter, filled with picturesque narrow streets. It is an ideal place to try some famous Macedonian specialities like bougatsa, souvlaki, and the delicious 'Panorama triangles'.

Thessaloniki International Airport is located about 15 km away from the city centre, and is the second busiest airport in Greece. Booking.com offers a big selection of hotels, apartments and guest houses throughout the city.

Great but overlooked city in Greece. So almost no turists.

Great but overlooked city in Greece. So almost no turists. Excellent and resonable priced local food. Great museums, nice churces and city walks along the sea. The beaches are a bit distant but there is a waterbus that takes you there. The beaches are excellent and not crowded at all.

Thessaloniki is a vibrant city, due to its large % of university students. So there is a young vibe about the place. Apart from the usual tourist areas in the centre, people should try to visit places that are farther out. Kalamaria has some great upmarket bars and a choice of restaurants. Or take a taxi to Castra All Day terrace bar, incredible views from there, and a few restaurants in the area too. Make sure you don't miss the Skyline OTE Tower, again incredible views. A favourite restaurant of mine is Villagio in Toumba lovely food, a change from Greek food. In fact there is a road nearby there called Diogenous,, when you can find restaurants and bars, the road is cleaner, wider and tree lines (compared to the streets in the city) Thessaloniki may not be the cleanest of cities (awful lot of stray cats, which gives Thessaloniki a bit of a whiff) but it is definitely a place to go to experience a city built by/for Greek immigrants, hence a diverse mix of food/cultures and characters. Well worth a visit!

I have never seen so many depressed people in one place before. It was like the people and the town had given up. We had dealings with a lot of people there - shop keepers, waiters etc etc - and their reception felt like they had no time for tourists. A disappointing trip which we will never make again.

The pool was massive and luckily while we were there it wasn’t that busy so we could get loungers with ease. The breakfast was ok but nothing special and very limited on what was on offer, excepted a lot more for a hotel that claims to have 5star. We have stayed in many hotels in the last 10yrs as we travel 4/5 times a year and this definitely didn’t feel like a 5 star hotel.

The Staff and their way of communication with us, the guests, was tremendous…they have fulfilled all of our requests within 5 min , which wasn’t the case in other hotels in Salonica ( Solun ) where we stayed at. Rooftop restorant is fantastic! Cleanliness was great which makes this hotel real 5 star hotel. We’ll be back soon for sure.
