Very quiet and comfortable. Large room with private bathroom and kitchen just outside of the room. The owner Alicia is a sweetheart. Easy to get to from the boat dock . 10 to 15 minutes walk up the main road. Head to Hotel San Pablo on the left and they'll contact Alicia who will bring you the keys.

Hot showers! Not lukewarm electric showerheads like most places, but honest-to-goodness hot water. Very clean, including the shared kitchen. One of the cleanest kitchens I've used in Guatemala. Incredible view of volcán, both from my bedroom and the roof.

The market is fabulous for fibery things. Backstrap looms, cotton weaving yarn, and finished yardage and garments. NOT touristy, hard to find coffee before ten a.m., and very little English-speaking. It's a noisy and bustling center for locals (rural Mayans). The shops and the market are a bonanza if you are a fiber tourist. If you're looking for an idyllic green and quiet oasis on the lake, you need to look to the outskirts of town, or hop on a ferry to one the many smaller, more tourist oriented communities

Lovely hotel in gritty, fascinating Santiago which we loved. Small kitchen that you can cook in. Clean pool and nice garden with several spots to chill out and a view from the roof. The hotel looks like it's been extended over the years and I think the new rooms are probably brighter than those on the ground floor. Our room was definitely a little dark, but it was clean and comfortable. Josefa and the women working in the hotel were all lovely.
There was lots to see and do in Santiago. Great birding and we saw a quetzal
This hotel is absolutely incredible. We felt like we were in a 5 star not a 3 star hotel. The staff are the loveliest & most helpful people and from start to finish our stay was magical. We will definitely remember it forever it’s a beautiful authentic place with modern facilities, elite attention to detail .. the food is also amazing and a we were spoilt for choice! Book the Royal Suite if you can it was so worth it! Thank you Hotel Bambu for an unforgettable stay!
Staff were all very friendly, the hotel price was reasonable, the rooms were clean, there was hot water, the swimming pool was nice, and the hotel is a walkable distance from the rest of the town.
