After seven days at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik, I can say it earned every bit of its reputation - and then some. What stood out most wasn't the stunning Adriatic views or the immaculate grounds, though both are genuinely impressive. It was the people. The staff here were exceptionally friendly throughout our entire stay - not in a performative, scripted way, but in a way that felt natural and sincere. No question was too small, no request was met with anything less than warmth. Not once did anyone make us feel like an inconvenience, which, after staying in many places around the world, is something you notice and appreciate deeply. Two people in particular deserve to be called out by name. Aleksandar, who handled our luggage, made our very first and last impressions of the resort a warm one - cheerful, helpful, and genuine from the start. And Joško at reception simply went above and beyond in every sense of the word. The kind of person who doesn't just solve your problem but makes you feel like it was never a problem to begin with. These two set the tone for everything that followed. The resort itself is kept to a remarkably high standard of cleanliness. Room service was prompt and thorough, reception was always responsive, and the overall atmosphere managed to feel lively yet peaceful - a balance not easy to strike. You could sit on your terrace, look out over the Adriatic, and genuinely feel like the world had slowed down for a moment. Seven days felt both too long to be away from home and too short to leave this place. That tension says everything. If you're considering Sun Gardens - stop considering and just book it. You won't regret it.

Great breakfast and dinner options. Had a double room with a balcony which was perfect for two, also had 2 washrooms. Air conditioning was incredible in the summer heat. Hotel is close to the city bus line going to the old town. Plenty of drink and food options, since there's two in-house bars/restaurants in hotel.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. It is about 15 minutes by bus from the Old Town, which we found very convenient since it was easy to get around while staying in a quieter area. The sea view was absolutely amazing, and there were many restaurant options nearby. The room was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of space for three people. The staff were also extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Overall, we had a great experience.

FAQs about hotels in Dubrovnik

The Pearl of the Adriatic

A medieval beauty full of magnificence and glory, Dubrovnik is surrounded by white stone walls. Located on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, this masterpiece is one of the most promising tourist destinations.

Passing through the imposing stone gate of Pile Gate, you will find yourself immersed in history. Take a walk in the narrow streets of this charming city, enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the colorful cafés, or order fresh fish in one of the outdoor restaurants.

Surrounded by turquoise waters, Dubrovnik Old Town sights include the picturesque Stradun, Onofrio fountain and the Franciscan monastery.

The city’s cable car will take you up to Mount Srd from where you can savor panoramic views over the treasures of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Buses connect Dubrovnik Airport with the city center, and Booking.com has a variety of hotels, apartments, and guesthouses throughout.

A beautiful city with a great mix of history, scenery and atmosphere. We loved wandering through Stradun and exploring the quieter side streets, each with their own charm. Getting around was straightforward, and the views from Mount Srd were absolutely worth the trip. We found plenty of good spots to eat, from relaxed cafés to more refined restaurants, and everywhere felt welcoming. As a young couple, we enjoyed the balance of daytime exploring and lively evenings, especially around the waterfront. Overall, Dubrovnik gave us a memorable stay and we’d happily return.

The old walled town is incredible.

The old walled town is incredible. So beautiful and clean and airy. Lots of squares and so many fabulous restaurants. Good shopping too. Great photo opps. Its a very special place! There is a fabuluous mitchelin star restaurant near the gate by the harbour, it needs to be booked in advance but if food is your thing, this is well worth the money..which is kinda alot, stunning views too and the staff are so nice. The cable car to view the city from above is well worth a trip, the panoramic restaurant needs to be booked well in advance but worth it. Sunset from up there is stunning. We stayed near the old city and there was a beach near us, it was not too big, its stoney not sandy and the waves sometimes can be strong, but its pretty. We took a trip to the island Otok Lokrum, just the local ferry from the port, it is well worth a visit, there are a couple of cafes but lots to do and see, bring a towel and swimsuit, and walking shoes so you can climb to the tower for some amazing panoramic views. We found locals to be very friendly. There are also many activities you can book, including a day trip to Montenegro which i would recommend, its a long day but worth it. We did not have time to see much more of the rest of dubrovnik or croatia so hopefully we can go back.

Dubrovnik is a beautiful, interesting and well-preserved medieval fortress. You don't need more than 2 days to visit it. The prices are very high, compared to other cities in Croatia that I have visited (Pola and Split). I would recommend the city only to those with decent physical condition. There are a lot of stairs and slopes, and the heat + humidity here surpasses hot countries like Greece or Spain.

We loved Solitudo Beach, Gruż Bay, Restaurant Orsan in the vicinity and far from the crowds; a small flea market available on Sunday on the Promenade-:) Water shoes are recommended but once you have them the pebble beaches are the best! Uber is a cost effective way to move around the town. However, the city walls of the old town are pretty expensive - 40 Euro per person.

Lovely warm welcome from owners who live above the property. Apartment big and spacious with everything that you may need available. Location a few metres from the sea, the 5 star Hotel Rexos next door. A walk of about 25mins to old town. Kitchen was well equipped with a few essentials like pepper and salt, oil were supplied. We walked to old town and ubered back at the cost of 8 euros as its quite an uphill back.

We really enjoyed the beautiful location of the Royal Ariston, with wonderful views over the Adriatic Sea. The hotel was comfortable and well presented, the pool and waterfront areas were great for relaxing, and we enjoyed being able to swim directly from the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was peaceful while still being within easy reach of Dubrovnik Old Town.

Great hotel with kind staff! the rooms are nice, the breakfast is delicious! You can take the bus to Old Town Dubrovnik or walk (about 30 min, mostly flat). After checking out we went to the Red History Museum (really close by, highly recommended! they can store your luggage while you visit the museum) and then we walked to the ferry port to catch a ferry to our next destination.

The hotel was in the port area of Dubrovnik which meant it was quieter, still restaurants and bars around and easy access to the Old Town by bus. Hotel is small, rooms clean and gorgeous, traditional style. Pool area lovely and quiet with quality loungers. Food offering was excellent, breakfast served to you, very personal service.
