The Sunny Side of Croatia
Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and featuring limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soft drinks Pipi and Orela.

We loved Split - it was a great combination of history and...
We loved Split - it was a great combination of history and historic architecture, fun restaurants and bars, as well as outdoor activities for walking and biking on the nearby ocean promenade and parks. We should have stayed longer - we had planned to do a day trip to Trogir but loved Split so much that we ran out of time. I thought Split was just a launching pad to the islands and a place for our 20-year olds to go clubbing but there was so much more. Will definitely return someday!

Split is a fabulous city with so much history and nearby places to visit.
The palace, Old city and Riva are packed full of shops, bars and restaurants for all wallets. Gelato is everywhere and usually got a queue outside.
We explored the old town both with a guide and on our own - recommend both. We also went to Klis Castle and the Olive Museum. Omis , Trogir and the Krka National park - all in easy distance from Split.
Walking everywhere was easy - we got a car for a few days for out of town trips. Uber and taxis readily available but can often be slower than walking.
Went to some great restaurants - Chops Steakhouse, Sip 27 and Semafor stood out for us .. but everywhere we tried was great. Tunaholic for takeaway fish and chips. Also did a food walking tour .. do this!
Charlies bar was a fun place to hang out - 80/90's music , good beer. Also ABI was a great off track find to chill ... no views , alley way, chill.
I could have spent 2 weeks in Split alone and still be finding new places ... highly recommend

The old town, especially Diocletian's palace, is outstanding. There are also some good museums and monuments. The only unpleasant thing is that as in Croatia generally, restaurants have become very expensive; even in a small town, expect to pay more than in a standard Parisian restaurant, which doesn't seem right. But it is far easier and cheaper to visit Split than Dubrovnik.

Beautiful place to stay, great to meander through the old streets or sit and have a drink down by the marina to watch the boats come and go. Be aware that it is hot and the streets hold the heat in parts as they are closely packed. Lots of great places to eat!

Small but wonderful historic centre to wander through. Lively seafront. Excellent network of cheap, reliable and air-conditioned buses. Downtown Grill is a great place to eat and drink (good food at a reasonable price).

We went to Dubrovnik first. we then took the ferry to split.
We went to Dubrovnik first. we then took the ferry to split. the ferry stopped at Hvar. we then did a day trip to hvar from split. we should have spent 2 nightson hvar then 2 nights in split. Dubrovnik old town was better. the beaches south of split were nice.

The hotel has a great position near Bacviĉe beach just outside Split centre. We had a beautiful room snd the lovely personable staff made our stay very special.
Exceptional breakfast choice with a daily pianist made a wonderful start to the day. On Wednesday night the hotel has a good acoustic duo singing English and Croatian songs with food & wine package on offer too... Loved the beautifully planted terrace with its twinkling lights.
Really enjoyed our stay.

Location is very convenient! Not exactly in the old town but right on the edge of it. 2 blocks away. Also close to transportation hubs. Communication with the host is solid and quick. When there was a sudden power outage, they took care of it immediately (after a guest contacted them, I think), and power was restored within minutes. Room was nice and clean. Considering how expensive Croatia can be, Kuzma is a good price.

In the heart of Split's Diocletian Palace this amazing apartment gives you a roof-level accommodation in the heart of the city. The host was friendly and very helpful for our stay. We have stayed in many places in Croatia but this was easily the best if you want to stay in one of the most historic centres of Croatian history in an apartment which retains some 16th Century features. We really recommend.

Amazing customer service, everyone was so helpful. Hotel in the centre of the old town near to all the main sites. The receptionist took the time to explain about all the local sites, transport etc. Breakfast fresh and varied, nice to see coffee and cake on offer all day. We all had the best time and will return again.
