Stari grad is a beautiful place and the people are very friendly.Lots of very nice bars and restaurants to choose from and lots of little streets to explore.,Public transport is cheap so its easy to check out other places not too far away.We found Taxis to be expensive so try and negotiate a price before you get in.A very relaxing, laid back place, just right for a chilled out holiday.

We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried.

We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried. The food was delicious, the people were incredibly friendly, and the architecture was beautiful. If I can recommend anything, it is to visit Blue Doors. The food was amazing and all the Owners family recipes, the wine we selected (which I believe was the house white) was made next door to the restaurant. All the staff were lovely and we chose this location for our final meal of our holiday.

A peaceful and beautiful port, quieter then Hvar, but still with excellent restaurants, nice landmarks and a lovely feel to it. Melting Spot for coffee. You can't get any day boats to the smaller islands from Start Grad- you (unless you pay to do a private excursion) so you have to travel back to Hvar to do this.

    I really love this place!

I really love this place! I've been there three times (first time 12 years ago). But I have to admit that prices in restaurants have gone mad this year. I understand inflation and everything, but I've been to Rome before visiting Stari Grad and food in Roman restaurants was 20-40 percent cheaper! Stari Grad (and Hvar island as a whole) is gorgeous! But it's not Rome! And I'm pretty sure it's not only my opinion because I was there a year ago at the same time (mid June), and this year restaurants were half-empty and I saw a lot of people walking away after looking at the prices on the menu.

    It's very quiet and small.

It's very quiet and small. A good breakaway from the many tourists! However transport is a challenge. Only taxis available and a bus. Taxis charge €50 to get to Hvar town where all the boat tours etc depart from. So you either need your own car or you need to catch the bus. In June the bus only ran at certain times which limited transport options from Hvar back to Stari Grad to exorbitant taxi prices! Information is not shared easily. One has to hunt everywhere for information. I do not believe I will be returning to Hvar. The boat tours are also over-priced for what you get.

Lovely resort with great pool facilities, Bali beds, comfortable sunbeds and access to the sea. Flexi board option is great with 25 euro credit per person per night to spend as you please with breakfast included without cost. Transfer to and from Hvar port to hotel can be arranged by hotel for a cost of 10 euro per person minus tips for driver- something they should advertise more due to lack of Uber. (Quoted taxi cost was €60 from port to hotel so definitely use the hotel shuttle)

Casa delle Rose is an old stone house in the middle of Stari Grad. It has all the necessary facilities, it's comfortable and it's beautifully decorated. The house has an Atrium situated in a center of the house, connecting the living area and kitchen with bedrooms upstairs. We really loved staying there and would definitely come again. We also want to thank our great host Amela for her warm welcome and for giving us great tips about visiting Hvar.

Merlo House is what countryside Dalmatian dreams are made of. Comfortable, clean & charming; we hope to return to lovely, little Dol one day. It is close to everything. Stari Grad is 10 minutes away & Hvar Town no more than 30 minutes away. Rato took the time to answer all of our questions & recommend the best places on the island to visit. Dinner at Konoba Kokot & an evening at Hora on the Stari Grad plains are both a must-do!!!!

Location was perfect for a quiet base from which to explore Hvar. Having the balcony was a definite feature. Stari Grad had so many wonderful options for dining close to Ancora Faros (away from the main tourist marina area - so much more affordable). The delightful young lady (Zlata) who prepared our breakfast each morning downstairs was very helpful - gave us great local tips for swimming spots, shopping and dining.

Easy booking, excellent cooperation with Morena who explained us everything and gave us instructions about the best way of spending the little time we had on Island of Hvar. Great restaurants and bars nearby as the appartment is at the very centre of Stari Grad, Hvar. Everything was clean and comfortable. Next time we come to Hvar, we will surely try to stay at Morena's place and then it will be for more days.

The hotel is renovated with cool modern and rustic style design. The restaurant is nice and has delicious food. The pool area and the beach are also nice Places to relax and chill. Tennis courts were great with options of clay and hard surfaces. Some of the surrounding buildings and areas are however old and abondened.

The pool and property are fantastic. The location is within walking distance to Stari Grad town but not the Port. Also, if you are wanting to visit Hvar town it is a bit of a distance, you have to take a taxi. The bus is right outside of the property but does not come very often. Overall it is a great place!
