With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.
Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.
Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.
To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.
With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.
I enjoyed all of my trip. My first visit to Budapest.
I enjoyed all of my trip. My first visit to Budapest.
The buildings were even better I expected. Definitely will recommend friends to visit.
The transportation system. Types and availability. Far superior and inexpensive. Compared to the U.K. My current location.
I visited the castle which was gorgeous. Parliament. The city centre. Basilicas & churches. As well as the boat trip on the Danube. Lots of walking taking in all the sites. A lovely courtyard market. Wine tasting session. A lovely few hours. At the Szécheny thermal baths. Although the day was overcast. It was nice.
On my last day. A visit to the Cafe New York.

Very vibrant European city with centuries of history to tour, great active cafes, bars, and restaurants with FANTASTIC food! The Jewish quarter is always vibrant and loaded with great clubs along with the history. The Parliament Building from the water is not to be missed and must be toured in the day.

It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. They are investing heavily in restoring the city centre and the castle area to their original beauty that took shape around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

I’ve visited Budapest many times and stayed at different hotels and hostels, but Hillside apartments has been the best accommodation I stayed in Budapest so far. Everything is super clean (the bathroom, the bed linen, towels etc.), the neighbourhood is really quiet, and we also had a balcony to enjoy our morning coffee. Bus stop is nearby, you can reach the city centre in 30 min. I totally recommend this peace for the excellent quality-price ratio! The host is also very kind and considerate (thank you Balazs!)
Hotel is in city centre, close to all main attractions, restaurants, room was clean, comfortable bed, and very quiet . it is nice hotel. it’s not super luxurious, but if you look for a nice cheap place for your stay, i can only recommend. we didn’t have breakfast, because we like to sleep, so we had “late” breakfast in cafeterias..
Cosy little boutique hotel in a historic building of Budapest city centre. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room very clean. We loved it and will definitely be back soon!
