The location is in the city center and it takes only about half an hour by taxi from the airport. The environment is excellent and the breakfast is abundant. It's exactly the kind of food I like! There are also free parking spaces available. Especially, the hotel is right opposite the Hungarian Parliament Building. At night, when looking at the Parliament Building across the Danube River, the view is simply breathtaking! Everything is so wonderful!

FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

Paris can wait! Go to Budapest!

Paris can wait! Go to Budapest! Just pack comfortable walking shoes, get familiar with the public transportation system, and plan carefully before you go. This means buying tickets to popular attractions online & well in advance, researching all the interesting sites in order to avoid missing out, and studying the layout of the city with a map so you can maximize your time well spent. You will not run out of things to do in Budapest, but unless your stay is at least two weeks, you _will_ run out of time, so before you go... research and prioritize! Tip: download the Bolt app to your phone and use it to order taxis in Budapest; they're relatively cheap, but hailing a cab off the street will result in getting ripped off, so beware! Visit Matthias Church, the Fisherman's Bastion, Gellert Hill, the baths, Liberty Square, City Park (with all its museums & monuments), and the Central Market. Take a night time cruise on the Danube, just get there early for the best seats and don't forget to take pictures! Eat dobos torte, palacsinta, langos, paprikas, and gulyasleves at the many restaurants, there are so many good ones to choose from (but Gundel, Ruszwurm, and Szazeves stand out among them). Tip: public restrooms are _not_ free, so keep some forint coins on hand as you explore the city! One last recommendation: if nothing else, visit the Terror Museum. It's an attraction unique to Budapest, unlike any other museum in any other city anywhere. You will learn more about the spirit of the city of Budapest from the Terror Museum than you will from probably any other of its attractions (except maybe Parliament or Buda Castle). Oh, and if time allows... spend a day in Eger (a beautiful historic town 2 hours away) you won't regret it!

Although I prefer to walk to attractions as much as possible I loved the multi day pass which lets you free travel on buses, trains and trams in Budapest specially on warmer days. In two days a visited a number of attractions such as Chain Bridge, Buda Castle, Fishermans Bastion, Danube River, Liberty bridge, hiked up Gellert Hill where there was a waterfall, a cave and reached a view point called Citadella, Shoes on Danube, Hungarian Parliament, Kossuth Lajos Square, St Stephen’s Bascillica, Heroes Square and Vajdunyad Castle. Besides this I visited and browsed through a few museums. All this was possible due to clear wether and longer summer days.

Budapest has a LOT of good things for tourists - - -so much history along with architectural splendor. One definitely needs a "plan" or some guidance regarding how to cover the highlights of the city as well as some of the ways to experience the city as a whole.

The city of Budapest is a gem on the Danube.

The city of Budapest is a gem on the Danube. This city is a testament to the glory days of the 19th century and is a must-visit for travellers. 2 nights is an injustice; this city needs a week or more to fully discover its sights and history. This is not a city where the stunning architecture extends to one or two avenues - it goes on forever.

    Budapest is a lovely city.

Budapest is a lovely city. Get yourself a 72 hour travel card and explore using the trams, buses and metro or just wander around and see the sights. plenty of restaurants and bars and the people are very friendly and helpful. Main sights would be, Parliment building. Buda Castle, Citadel, Funicular railway, Hospital in the rock,St Stephens basilica, Bathouses, Central market, shoes on the Danube and many more.

The location is perfect- walking distance to the city centre, near to 2 metro stations & a tram station (from different directions), it’s a peaceful area even though it’s located somewhere around the heart of pest, Budapest. The room is comfortable & spacious for a family of three. Everything is clean including the bathroom. The service is really good & helpful. There are no convenient supermarkets nearby to go to at night (to buy water) but the restaurant next to the hotel lets us buy bottle of water from them.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Stories in Budapest. The staff is very nice, friendly and helpful, the apartments are spacious, beautifully decorated, warm and comfortable. Incredibly beautiful garden, restaurant in the atrium, location in the very center of Budapest... We are a couple from Noway that stayed from thu-mon. Very nice hotel. Must be a pretty new hotell. Very good breakfast. Location is good and central close to the Opera wich is nice to use as a reference point. Metro to Széchenyi bath is close. Just use the opera station. Not far to walk down to city centre. Or use a kickbike. If we go back to Budapest we would probably use this hotel again.
