FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

    Great city, good vibes. Walkable.

Great city, good vibes. Walkable. Loved the concept of ruin bars. Loved walking in the city center and dining at beautiful restaurants with international and local cuisine. The lights up for the Parliament building is a nice experience and so is the walk along the river. The Hungarian wines are good. All in all, definitely a place to visit once in your life.

Budapest is relatively inexpensive and there is a lot to do and see. Plan ahead for good restaurants. Mazel Tov and Retek Bistro were both very good choices that we made. Walking around is the way to go because distances are short. If you are into it, a ruin bar is an entertaining experience.

Only one full day in Budapest, so only observations not experiences. Plenty of eating establishments and money exchange kiosks. Transport to and from airport and around the city is excellent. Relaxed walking out alone at night.

Realize that Budapest was historically split into two...

Realize that Budapest was historically split into two separate cities, which are not merged, but remain as separate sections. The natural border between them is the Danube River. Buda, is more monumental, and the historic castle is on a hill. This provides a lot of medieval streets and access to wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, the Danube, and of Pest. Pest is lower, more flat, and is the economic center, so think shopping, restaurants, and other type of things to visit like parks, zoo, and the famous Szecheny Pools. I think one needs at least 3 days , but probably 5 or 6 is better so all major monuments can be visited on both the Buda and Pest sides as well as doing some extra things like walking some parks and visiting the Szecheny pools.

As far as cities go, Budapest is high at the top of my list.

As far as cities go, Budapest is high at the top of my list. I am not a city person, but I enjoyed my three days here. I particularly liked the walk to Gellert hill and walking around Margrit island. It is a very runnable city and enjoyed some early morning runs along the river.

Wonderful city with a lot to see. People are very friendly. Don’t miss the Shoes by the River or the lights of both Buda and Pest at night. Don’t miss the Ghetto Wall Museum, a reminder of WW2 Jewish Ghetto.

Property was top class and really affordable. Breakfast was included on our stay and there was a great selection of quality foods. Got a free drink voucher for the bar too which was great. Hotel is in an ideal location in the centre of Budapest. During the stay I lost my passport and bag which the staff retrieved from a bar in the city centre when I wasn’t able to collect it due to our bus to another country. I managed to collect this before flying home and was greatly appreciated that they went the extra mile for me!

Friendly and helpful staff at reception, fast check-in, beautiful indoor spaces, good working lifts, safety, roomy and clean family room, good view, spacious bathroom, room was cooled prior to our arrival (August), close to city centre and facilities (Lidl 15metres from reception, bus stop 5metres from reception), very good night sleep, great breakfast, fast and easy check-out. Overall, one of the best hotel/hostel stays for the paid price.

The hotel was roughly a 7minute walk going to the city centre, the room is very eco-friendly and classy and the intercontinental breakfast was good! I'm very satisfied with the single room I had as a solo traveller. **read more about my experience in Hungary here: https://www.randompetite.com/2022/10/the-east-side-story-hungary.html

We made late plans for Budapest for New Year's eve and this property was relatively affordable, the staff were efficient at arranging arrival times and check-in. The hotel is in a great location as you can catch the bus just around the corner to the city centre and the entrance is accessible 24/7.
