Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.
We just love e Sanur. Plenty to do, places to eat, shop, get massages etc. and it’s not as congested as the Legion side of Bali . Very relaxing. We usually choose Sanur for the longest part of our stay to relax and then head off to other destinations

Great little resort with lovely accessible beaches.
Great little resort with lovely accessible beaches. Lots of amazing restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from - something for everyone. The sea is safe to swim and there are lots of options to choose from when laying in the sun. There is a lovely cycle path all along the front which is a great way to see it all away from the traffic. The shopping center, Icon Bali, is controversial but I believe a great little asset to bring people to the area and again lots of shops and restaurants.

This trip to Bali was the third time in 3 consecutive years.
This trip to Bali was the third time in 3 consecutive years. the reason being that we wanted to cover the whole of Bali & not just the usual tourist corner.
get yourselves into the mountain areas it is wonderful.
We have stayed in Seminyak, Lovina, Amed, Ubud and Sanur. All have something to offer. Unfortunately the traffic situation in Bali is horrendous so we spent 5 days at Lipah Beach/Jemaluk Bay area, Amed, for snorkelling (great)! Then travelled to Sanur for 5 days, as we had stayed in Seminyak previous years.

Sanur is amazing. Nice relaxing vibe and not overly busy. I liked that you weren’t hassled like you are in Kuta. A lot of amazing places to eat, unfortunately found my favourite spot on the last morning. Definitely try Daily Baguette! Best coffee I’ve had this whole trip and food was delicious.

We have previously really enjoyed Sanur.
We have previously really enjoyed Sanur. However, recently it felt a bit tired and had a lot of places boarded up along the beach and seemed to lack some of its previous atmosphere. It was also a bit crowded at times with walkers and cyclists crowding on the path. I imagine as some places get refreshed it might regain its feel. It was a shame to see some of the newly fitted out warung's from about 18mths - 2 years ago looked quite worn and nowhere near as nice as they did only a short time ago. They also seemed to have cleaned up the wandering dogs a bit 2 years ago but this time there were still many free running around.
A special mention to Leha Leha Spa this was a real treat and I highly recommend.

Sanur is quieter and less busy than Kuta, and Seminyak.
Sanur is quieter and less busy than Kuta, and Seminyak. Having said that, if you have not been to Bali before do NOT expect anywhere to be quiet and not busy - it is part of the charm of Bali holidays.

Amazing hotel! The room we stayed in was very spacious, well decorated, quiet and with a nice bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was great, with lots of options. The rooftop swimming pool was a nice surprise, with a great view over Sanur. Hotel services (massages, bar) were great and affordable. The hotel is located just a 2 mins walk from the beach and restaurants and 10-15 mins from Sanur's shopping center. Couldn't ask for anything better for our last day in Bali, and would love to stay again for longer.
It's a boutique hotel off a main road and 20 minutes walk from the beach. Despite the road location it was exceptionally quiet and peaceful - so dead easy to travel to/from but you need transport. I liked the walk through the alleyways around the Sanur neighbourhood but some might prefer to be on the beach.
Just renovated but kept oldie-worldie character however all clean and fresh. Lovely jogolos for cottage accommodation. Good pool.
Good breakfast.
Our last night in Bali so we wanted a peaceful night sleep and a nice pool to enjoy a relaxing morning before heading to the airport. I’m glad we chose Sanur as its very beautiful still and the taxi ride took an hour, I’m sure it would have been as long or longer if we had stayed closer to the airport due to traffic.
We had our last massage at the Hotel by Martini, it was the BEST of the whole holiday!
Stunning location on the beach at Sanur. My room was near the beach - not with a view - but I felt I was in paradise. The room was large, comfortable and they provide free water in the rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Close to an abundance of great Day Spas and plenty of other food choices for lunches and dinners wandering away from the hotel.
Lovely location with rooms overlooking very pretty gardens, pool, and bar/restaurant right on the beach. Perfect size hotel where you can enjoy the wonderful Balinese hospitality. Lots happening along the beach. We hired bikes and cycled to the end of the beach and walked the other way to Sanur Harbour.
