FAQs about hotels in Cork

Irish Spirit In A Nutshell

Situated on the banks of the River Lee, Cork’s city centre was originally built on marshes and many of its popular streets are constructed on the former river channels. With a thriving nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene, the Irish Republic’s second biggest city is full of surprises.

Those interested in history should pay a visit to the Cork City Gaol, an old prison transformed into one of the city’s most fascinating attractions, or join the Cork Historic Walking Tours, which offer a great opportunity to learn all the city’s secrets.

For those craving more lively entertainment, the city offers the famous Cork City Pub Crawl or even more exciting, the Barrack Street Challenge, where participants drink pints of beer in all bars along Barrack Street.

The shopping area is concentrated around the most famous street - St. Patrick Street. For local food specialities like crubeens, tripe and drisheen, browse bars and restaurants around MacCurtain, Washington and Oliver Plunkett Streets.

When flying to Cork Airport, you’re just a short taxi or bus ride from the lively city centre. Don’t worry about accommodation; Booking.com has plenty on offer, from convenient hotels, to cosy guest houses and bed & breakfasts.

I was looking for culture and history in Cork.

I was looking for culture and history in Cork. Disappointingly, I did not find much of this in Cork but instead used the city as a base to seek out tours and history elsewhere (favourite trip out of town was Kinsale). On the plus side, there were decent options for eating out. Fish restaurant, Goldie, was a highlight for evening meal; Koto was excellent for Thai and we visited Bayou twice for a really great value lunch as this was in the vicinity of our hotel. Favourite place in Cork was MacCurtain Wine Cellar - lovely wine by the glass and the staff were utterly wonderful!

Cork was beautiful and everywhere we visited was lovely and the people were so friendly and helpful. Where w stayed was a good location and buses were good. Shame weather wasn’t a bit better as there were more trips we would have done. The hotel was okay we had used it before and was impressed but not so this time but will give it one more go hopefully complaints are noted and changes made!!! Whitehorse pub at Ballincoggi was great! Mary O’Donells was great too! Kinsale was pretty too Cobh was a lovely place and the Titanic museum was very good and the wonderful Cathedral. Long strand beach Castlefreke was well worth visit. You couldn’t swim but beautiful and the food at cafe and cleanliness was amazing. Galway was definitely worth visiting, although a long trip. Cork had a nice shopping town Everywhere we visited the hospitality was and helpfulness was outstanding

I only had a short time and was involved in a programme so I did not see much of Cork. I did enjoy having coffee and a scone at The Address [Ambassador Hotel[ which has a wonderful view of the city from a hill and nice outdoor seating on a good day at the restaurant. There are many things to do and see in Cork- but I didn't get to go to them on this short visit. Not to mention it's the gateway for beautiful West Cork.

Room was facing the River Lee which was nice though we were only on the first floor. We tried dinner at the hotel one night. It was just ok. Not great preparation or value for money. It is better to go out to the city centre. Breakfast was a large buffet spread and very sumptuous. Ample basement parking for free.

Met by a friendly member of staff, we stayed two nights here as part of our Road Trip round Ireland. A good location very close to the city centre, but in a quiet residential area, parking at the Guesthouse. Great spotless room with a nice en-suite. BEST breakfast of the whole Road Trip.
