FAQs about hotels in Galway

Cracking City of Craic

Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.

The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly colored shops and restaurants.

Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which has an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.

Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

What Guests Said About Galway:

Galway is buzzing but almost too busy for "golden oldies".

Galway is buzzing but almost too busy for "golden oldies". It's really for young people. The traffic is horrendous and getting in or out or around the city is very stressful. It was difficult to find a nice relaxed place to eat simple food. Street entertainment was very entertaining. The best thing for me are the two marvellous book shops,Charlie Byrnes and Kennys.

Visiting my brother but also seeing Galway great hot weather so made the most of lovely beaches near Furbo along the coast. City centre very vibrant as the festival was on , great fun. Did a day trip to Aran islands with cliffs of Moher on the way back. Great trip cycled on the island saw some forts. The weather made it we were so lucky! Would come back and visit other areas.

Beautiful town.

Beautiful town. Took the very comfortable bus from Dublin Airport to Galway. Hotel was right across from the bus station, could not have been any easier. Took a tour to Cliffs of Moher. Very walkable town. No need for a car, uber or bus once you are in the town.

Galway is awesome! So much to see and do.

Galway is awesome! So much to see and do. We stayed a total of 6 nights (perfect amount) and spent one full day visiting the Aran islands then home by way of the Cliffs of Moher and one day taking the train in to Dublin for the day. Walked a ton! Easy walks to Latin Quarter and West End spots as well as to Eyre Square… longer walks to beaches at Salt Hill area. Latin Quarter has many great places-esp pubs. Loved that we didn’t need to use our car to get around. Highly recommend the Aran islands ferry trip-and then renting an E bike while on Inis Mor

The apartment was in a very good condition and very close to the city center and to the coach station. We were upgraded for free from 1-bedroom to 2-bedroom apartment, which was very nice. The check-in was very simple and it is also very convenient that the check-in desk works 24/7 at The Western Hotel.

This a perfectly decent hotel, located out of the city centre in the seaside suburb of Salthill - as we were attending a show at Leisureland it was very conveient. Staff were excellent, and the room was good, as is the car park capacity. Being near the sea is also nice.
